Keep the puck out of the net & a push for PO spot will be very real. A tough division & highly competitive no doubt but can make some serious noise. Coach Q will be a huge help. Divisional games will be the key for success. |

"I really dig this news – particularly for Hawryluk and Hunt because I’ve become a big fan of both guys."
Dude! That's what I was gonna say....
Love how Hawryluk stirs poop up and pisses people off, and Hunt shows the desire of a talented kid who's been counted out too soon. They are the kind of players that are easy to root for.

Lol, Matt, did you see this? Yandle gives his buddy Weegar's phone # so he can pretend he is new UFA signee, from Boston, Noel Acciari. New teammate "Acciari" (who pummeled Weegar twice in fights last year) informs Weegar that he wants Weegar's #52.... Weegar is tripping and doesn't know the protocol for such requests, so he texted Yandle (the friggin perpetrator) for some "veteran advice" as to how he should handle the situation. Of course Yandle proceeds to string him along... Yandle is the master, lmaolol.

I didn’t see this but just watched...hahaha. That’s awesome! The way Whit relays the text convo is great. He’s loving it
Imagine if you were Weegar and that happened? You’d be so stunned/confused that a guy would come in and be like that - good stuff, Rats. Haha. |

Tallon watch should be on. Every year he brings free agents to Sunrise with minimal results. Tell me who has been a successful ufa signing in the last 5 yrs? |

I don't think the Atlantic is all that tough really, and the Panthers should be able to challenge for a playoff spot now that they (theoretically) have reliable goaltending. Ottawa, Detroit and Buffalo will remain terrible, Tampa and Boston will remain at the top while Florida, Montreal and Toronto will be right behind them. Panthers have a great chance to take some strides. I'd like to see them make it (especially over Toronto). |

God question, Harvey. Can't think of anyone off the top of my melon...would need to look back at some stuff from over the years. |

New coach and some new player additions that help address some holes...but it all has to come together.
I'm very optimistic. I really think Q will be the difference-maker. Last season was so frustrating because a lot of the talent was there, but there just seemed like this lack of game plan/scheme under Boughner. The staff Q has assembled seems like such a step up from the past couple years...can't wait to see what they do |

If you don’t already you guys definitely need to listen to spittin chicklets Podcast! My ribs started to hurt from listening to that story. Whit and Biz have some amazing story’s they tell from over the years and yandle is apart of it one way or another all the time. They have some amazing interviews with past and present players too! |

A little interesting that it's a two way deal when it seems they pretty much have him penciled in as the backup. He seemed ready in the games he played last year. He let in a pretty soft one early in his debut, and I thought he was doomed. But he shook it off and played very well afterwards. His numbers weren't the greatest, but were skewed by a Boston beat down where he was often hung out to dry. |

Agreed...I actually really like Monty's play - especially with the defense, and general chaotic/lost play, that was in front of him most of the time.
I'm terrible with knowing/understanding the business side of things. Wonder if the one-year deal signals some kind of strategy with Seattle in mind? Is he still waiver-exempt this year and that's why it's a two-way...so he can be sent down if need be and not have to go through waivers..?
OR
Do they maybe have another target in mind for the backup?
Someone more savvy will have to explain the deal to me |

I think you got it with the waiver situation. Then they gain cap room for a veteran backup if they have to send him down. |
