Friedman is probably talking about the few teams that got bent over a barrel by GMGM: Lightning, Jets, Isles, Ducks, Wild, Jackets. And thinking Western Conference rivals aren't eager to help them out either. So that leaves about a dozen teams to deal with, and a lot of those are not interested, or capped out themselves. - Tomahawk
I think some teams have been let off easy. I think our own GM was too giving in what he paid San Jose to take Braun off their hands. I understand other team were interested but is he really a player you get into a bidding war on? I guess we'll find out.

Compher signed 4 years at 3.5 aav.
That bodes well for Konecny who should come in at least 5aav if you want to compare production. Not so good for Philly however. - MBFlyerfan
Seems like an overpay but 4 years takes him to 28 |

Article on O’Brien on the NHL Site - peesinwind
I really, REALLY hope I'm wrong, but I didn't like the pick when it was made and like ti even less now. From all reports, he's a good, smart kid, but as an NHL prospect, picking him where they did seemed like a reach. Everyone questioned how he'd fare against non-prep school competition and, injuries aside, the answer was not well. Hopefully his bulking up will help him and he can rebound, but I wouldn't bet on him.
Don't mean to be negative, but his stock has plummeted in the past 12 months. |

He was a stretch but he was high upside/risk pick. I think all of us wanted some picks like that, maybe not that one.
The good news, he is a real good skater and has a good motor, if he didn’t, this will be a failed project already I think

Well I’m on team positive and I don’t have a good feeling about the pick.
I will keep some hope as he is an unusual prospect that has speed (or quickness) and skill. But last year was not promising by any means. |

Im confused why people are annoyed about the Stewart PTO? - opeth_pa
For the record, I hope Chris Stewart does make the team. We depth on the fourth line, NAK is younger abs players the same style, which is element we’re missing, which is I originally wanted NAK to make the team this coming season.
Most importantly, I love this team when a tough black player plays on it. RIP Ray Emery. |

Not that I think he will make this team but at 6’2” and almost 250 pounds he is thick and big. If he can still skate then hey. Might be good to stop gap if the kids aren’t ready or someone to call on to protect a kid. It is just a PTO. NO harm. |

Just curious, why is it important to you if a player is black or white?
And for the record, I don't care whether or not he makes the team, as long as he makes or doesn't make it on merit. |

No, I want the Flyers to ice the best possible team regardless of race, culture, religion, sexual preference, etc.
I don't care if we have 20 Asian players having full-blown orgies in the locker room after every game if they win the Cup. |

What? I kind of care. No orgies in the locker room. Hexy one year removed would lose his mind. |

Ok? What’s that have to do with a guy feeling some pride when there’s a tough black player on the team he roots for? I like it when there are good players from USA on my team. Doesn’t mean I’m hating on Canadians or that I want a team full of Americans. Also, I want to go on the record that I might have a problem following a team that had orgies in the locker room. Call me old fashioned, but that just seems creepy. Ha ha |

Seriously tho, don’t we all like to root for a team with players that are likeable to us? Why do you think teams do all that charity stuff. Look at the way everyone is so gaga over how nice Carter Hart is. |

Anyone who thinks the Flyers are in cap hell, should look at the team-by-team cap outlooks on Cap Friendly.... much of the league is in the same boat, and many are far worse off. |

I’m with you on that. Zero issues if someone hopes that someone of their culture makes the team. It is understandable for SSB to want a tough beach guy on the team. A league with few black players in it. No issues with that. Cultural pride is a real thing. Now with that said I want the best team on the ice.
Now I am worried that someone feels orgies are okay in the locker room. That I think may be a little to much for my mind to handle. |

I think some teams are really going to be able to take advantage of some of these teams. Like we were talking about Vages’ situation yesterday. Yeah, some teams are in a pinch. |

In today's society that is called racism (I don't believe SSB is a racist, please read on). I have no problem if SSB wants to root for someone he feels is like him in some way. However we need to be consistent if we truly want to root out racism. If you want to elimate it you need to stop focusing on it. We are all either the same or not the same. Either accept that slight racism such as SSB's comment is ok as long as it is not meant to hurt someone (which his was not) or just be color blind in which that statement would not have been made. Sorry it is strange that you you called someone out for asking that question considering how sensitive society is today. Please go back to discussing Hockey. |
