Mitts was the most recent comparison, I can't list out all the people who were put in place too early.
- gcomella34

Thats not even factually correct considering Dahlin was drafted more recently and played immediately.

Mitts was drafted in 2017 and played his 2017-2018 season mostly in the NCAA at Minnesota. So Mitts isn't even a good comp because he didn't come to the NHL in his draft season like people are suggesting about Cozens.

Rahm (T1)
Koepka (T4)
Stenson (T21)
Kuchar (T46)

Not too bad for day 1 with a few guys still on the course.

No there (frank)ing isn't. Don't work for them, everyone that was good there is gone.

My favorite was when they conducted a 6 month search for a director and he quit after 3 days

I'm sure there have been players who have plateaued because they were never given the chance to succeed at a higher level. Not saying a year in juniors is going to hurt, but that some players could have been better if they weren't buried in the minors for their prime developmental years. You will not get better if you aren't playing with/ against better players.

So Dahlin isn't an exceptional case?

Shall we go on from Zadorov, probably Risto, Grigorenko, etc all coming up too early?

But by all means, let's pencil him in top 6.

I actually wouldn't mind Zadorov, Mcnabb or Foligno. If you could rid the team of Hunwick, Scandella, Nelson and Bogo and replace them with Zadorov and Mcnabb on the D, and replace Sobotka or Wilson with Foligno then I think we are a much tougher team to play against.
- adambuffalo

this team is still way to soft....

I don't think he'll get the 9 game tryout, but if he does, it won't hurt him at all. Reinhart looked like a little boy out there and got SMOKED a few times. Didn't hurt his development. It probably helped him realize being a top-10 pick doesn't mean poop anymore

Cases can be made for different players all the time. Being brought up and how they are used here are two different discussions. Also, what league they were previously playing in and whether or not the AHL is an option is another point to consider. Not everything is black and white on whether a player is better off being brought up or not.

I'd say it didn't hurt or help him. Maybe it opened his eyes, but getting sent down can do that too.

I think it's important we ice the best lineup we can.

Leaving Cozens up can't be justified by, "it won't hurt him", we need to start winning.

i thought he wasn't ready because his mother was facing southeast during birth and no player born in that orientation has ever been ready for the NHL prior to 20 years and 214 days

I agree. They absolutely should not start the season with him in the top-6. Too much of a gamble

I wouldn't mind if they waived Wilson or some other scrub and kept Cozens on the roster for a month or two. Let him practice and hang with the team and play him once a week or so, or when someone gets hurt. Then he can go back to jr in late November. Or just send him back after training camp.

either they have it, or they don't

I never bought into the kid was forced too early

ror was a second rd pick, made the nhl right away

either you have the motive and drive to play in the nhl, or you don't
either you have the dedication to be the best and listen to your coaches, or you don't
either you have the work ethic to belong with the best in the world, or you don't

talent alone does not guarantee you a spot in the nhl, no matter how many years you are babied by the organization

you can make a case that an 18 or 19 year old needs a year or 2 to fill out, I get that

the 9 game sample should show any competent team if he is not ready physically

but making these excuses that players were rushed, and that wrecked them

no f@cking way I buy that

either they are driven to be the best, or they float around with a chip on their shoulder because talent is not enough to crack the lineup (nylander)

cozens is 180 lbs, if his hand is healed, and he is one of the 9 best players up front he deserves to start his career as a sabre

I couldn't agree more. The problem is I want to find out if the person is a waste of a uniform in juniors or the AHL. Not penciled in to the top 6.

Don't mind that idea, just want to make sure we don't burn a year of his contract if they know he'll be going back to Juniors.

Just curious how that makes you agree with his post in any sort of way. In fact, your reasoning says the exact opposite, that you disagree. What more does he have to prove at the junior level? 10 people scored more points then him in the W, and he's 3 years younger than most of them. If he gets a look for 9 games because he EARNED it in training camp, then good on him. If he gets a longer look it's most likely he earned it during the 9 games. Nothing should be handed, but to say he was just picked this year, can't play him just because of this is foolish. If he proves he belongs then he'll play. If he looks timid and gets pushed around, he'll be sent down.

The best part is ...... it doesn’t matter if he is or isn’t. He can play 9 games and get sent back down. No harm done.

Ready or not.
