I don’t post often but got the urge with all of these line combinations. The Hawks scoring has always been more balanced when you’ve split Kane and Toews IMO.

Therefore can we mull on this one for a minute...

Saad - Toews - Shaw
Debrincat - Strome - Kubalik
Nylander - Dach - Kane
Caggiula - Kampf - Carpenter

For Schmaltz?
- Rota's Rooter

For Hinastroza and Oesterle because you can never have too many #7 defenseman on your team

If Dach makes the roster out of camp I could see them going with a lineup like this to provide balance to the roster. Though Kane's line would likely be the "1st" in this make up with Toews line being the "2nd" line so to speak. One thing a lot of Hawks reporters have said is that if Dach makes the team out of camp that Saad and Shaw would be perfect players for him to play with to compliment his game.

To be honest, I think it's a lot more likely that he does not make the roster out of camp due to the amount of depth the Hawks have at forward coming into camp. Unless he completely wow's everyone they can hold off for awhile and let him continue to grow and mature as a player

Went to the CPHL game 1 last night. Toews was playing, but only for the first half. Bowman was in the house. Followed Toews into the Hawks dressing room at half. Toews didn't come back. Trade pending confirmed!

Toews looked pretty good, but there was a college player (no name on jersey) who picked his pocket a few times and out rushed him for goals a couple of times. You could see the frustration on JT's face.

Hinostroza looked bigger and better than when he left here.

The third line would make a great fourth line on a cup winning team. Now all we need is a third line. Nylander, Dach, Perlini

I loved going there for races years ago. After the races we'd go over to check out Bud Koehler's #77 at his owners shop down the street.

I married a woman born and raised in Hawaii (Kauai) and now have in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins all over the island to visit and a house to stay at.

Sister-in-law lives in San Diego too so man I married into the right family almost 20 years ago.

On a side note, I was able to get about 200 family members to actually watch ice hockey in Hawaii and they are all Blackhawk fans. Hilarious seeing Filipino family in Hawaii with Blackhawk shirts on.

My system, find a junk on Thursday, remove glass, other stuff Friday, adjust negative camber as far as it would go and run Hobby Stock on Saturdays, drop off title of now wrecked car at ABC (Next door) on Monday. This was back when Bud Koehler would win every feature...

Another reason why we may not see Dach on the NHL roster this year is the cap - he has the max bonus structure for his deal. He is getting a $92,500 signing bonus each of the next three years, and is eligible for as much as $2.5MM annually in performance bonuses.

Kubalik - same deal but performance bonuses max at $850K annually.

Nylander - no signing bonuses but an $850K annual performance bonus.

Boqvist - $92,500 signing bonus and $850K annual performance bonus.

The Hawks can go over the cap on bonuses and slide the hit to the following season, but unless SB moves more salary they will take hidden hits to the cap that could bite them next season.

Please post more! Always great to get fresh perspectives.

While I can see Toews and Kane possibly being split up, that proposed 3rd line would put too much pressure on Dach as a rookie to carry the defensive load with two forwards who aren't known to prioritize defense.

Other than that comment, your lines are a viable option.

No he's not he's more of a middle six type of player but the further he is down your lineup the deeper your team is gonna be and better your team is going to be as well making them even more of a legit Cup Contender but that's getting ahead of ourselves at this point

Ahh see this is a great point that often gets overlooked. We've been burned by the performances bonus before in the past as well and had to trim salary as a result of this. You don't wanna have too many guys making performance based bonuses at one where by seasons end (if all goes well) while you're already close to the cap you now have to account for another 2-4M in bonuses on your cap.

I don't think him having another season (or even a half or 3/4th's of a season; everyone seems to think it's NHL or Juniors all year for him but I woudn't be shocked if he got a shot with the team at the end of the year or before that especially if he's playing great and someone gets hurt) would be the worst thing in the world for Dach to grow and mature as a player. Especially with the forward depth we have.

The only issues I have with that lineup is that

A.) It's too top heavy. Very little scoring would be provided from the bottom six

B.) Second line is too heavy. As good as Kane and Cat have been together those two should be playing with the top two Centers on the team. Toews and Kane anchor line 1 and Strome and Cat anchor line 2.

C.) The third line looks like it would be a pain in the a$$ to play against...but also would look MUCH better as a 4th line on this team (save for Shaw who would be best suited to play to play on that 3rd line).

Team needs at least one or two of Dach, Kubalik, Wedin, Nylander, Sikura, even Perlini to make an impact for the team for them to be able to another step forward.

Caggiula-Toews-Kane
Cat-Strome-???
Saad-???-Shaw
Smith-Kampf-Carpenter

I think after the success that Caggiula had last the year with Toews and Kane he will start the year there and slide up and down as JC sees fit. My guess is that one of the three guys on that 4th line ends up starting the season as our 3C UNLESS Dach looks so amazing he needs to start the season with us OR two of the Wings fighing for spots look great and they move Shaw to 3C to start the year. If no other roster moves are made (besides re-signing Perlini to a one year deal) I'd guess...

Caggiula-Toews-Kane
Cat-Strome-Nylander or Kubalik
Saad-Shaw-Perlini
Smith-Kampf-Carpenter
Wedin or Sikura and someone like Nilsson as the 14th forward just in case

- Savetheembers33

Good thoughts. Also a viable option for forward lines.

https://www.the-rink.com/...khawks-camp-on-day-three/

Yesterday the Rink had a nice recap of interviews with Bowman and Colliton on prospects and new acquisitions and how both may impact this year's roster. They both talked about positional versitality of forwards, and their ability to play up and down a line or two as well as D-men able to play either side. In their words, this allows them to:

- Customize a lineup to the opponent and how the other team game plans against them.
- Not expect a player to play just one specific role.
- Rely on others to pick up the slack if a teammate(s) is slumping or just having an off night.

While I don't think Colliton will put the line blender on max setting, one theory is that he has set duos for the top 3 lines then the mixing and matching occurs with filling out the 3rd forward on each of those lines and filling out the 4th line.

LW - Toews - Kane
DeBrincat - Strome - RW
Saad - Dach - RW
LW - C - RW

Top 9 wing options: Shaw, Caggiula, Sikura, Kubalik, Perlini

4th line options: Kampf, Smith, Carpenter, Caggiula

Caggiula and Smith are the two forwards who I can see playing as low as 4th line but could see time in the top 9 for Drake and 3rd line for Zach.

I fully expect, whether Dach makes the team or not, for this to be the case next year. Have three (maybe four depending on how guys play together on the 4th line) set pairs in each line and mix and match as they go. This creates good balance to the team and allows for JC to mix and match depending on the opponent night in and night out.
