If Boqvist is in Rockford, and if he progresses well early, it may allow a trade of Gus at the deadline. Assuming Gus plays ok, he could bring a decent return at the deadline. |

For game 1? Dach, for the short stint and a return to Juniors. Most likely - neither. |

I think Nylander has a better shot but he needs to bring it.
But the Hawks might have a plan to give Dach a chance as well. At least 9 games. |

I think Dach does, supposedly he plays a 200 foot game. Defense never slumps |

And if Gus and the team are both doing well? I guess you bite the bullet, ride Gus for the rest of the year, and let him get his $5mil as a UFA. |

Was hoping both Saarela boys would be there, why only the younger one?

I think these camps have some leeway (especially as look-sees for the new acquisitions...Alex Nylander) but in general they now try and keep the emphasis on getting the draft picks from past years dialed into the philosophy and skill uses, what they are expecting in different situations in the zones, and as a barometer when the past picks come in for 2nd and 3rd looks.
I am betting the the older Saarela might think after scoring a total of 64 goals and 115 points in pro hockey at the AHL level he might look upon an invite here as a head scratcher since he already is a bit advanced past the less than 12 pro games any off the others has played.
That's why I questioned the Kubalik invite and subsequent "injury-label"...it could be he was asked to get look-see at what they do, how they do it in this camp as a pre-orientation and maybe not really an injury - Evan Barratt (who to be is a centre eventually not a wing) will miss 2 months with an undisclosed injury, but will be ready for the next college season and Niklas Nordgren may be still nursing his World Junior concussion after other varoius season injuries. Nylander already has 3 pro seasons under his belt. He will never get a better chance to wipe the slate clean and grab an NHL roster spot.
Time to stop listening to Daddy and Mommy and his agent and blaming the Sabres and start playing hard. Another full season in the AHL will get him reclassified as 'career minor leaguer'. |

Nordgren got injured on the first day of camp last summer and sat out the rest of the week. Not good to start injured again. Flashy scoring winger who needs to play stronger without the puck.
Foo participated in camp two summers ago, didn’t participate last year, and is back this week. Not sure why he was out last summer. Had an incremental improvement at Union College as a sophomore and likely to stay through senior year. Fast, tenacious forechecking energy winger. |

Would not surprise me that maybe Murphy might be the odd man out, ti have 3 stay at home dmen in Seabrook, DeHaan and Maata, then Keith Gus and Boqvist? You know how much Bowman loves his puck moving dmen |

Nylander was too good to come to our D camp. Or, they told him not to bother, he was getting traded anyway.

There were more posts on the message board than he probably has ever had. He must have been playing NHL19 when he came up with that.
Back to Tyler's story. That is a pretty impressive roster for sure. Excited to see who is going to step up and make a bid for a roster spot this year. A couple non-playoff years and decent trades have given the Hawks some noteworthy names in the system.

I think that makes the most sense, both from Boqvist's development perspective and providing him with the chance for a cup of coffee with the Blackhawks (should the opportunity arise). |

I think the Hawks keep Gus for the season and let him walk as a UFA. He's a placeholder and buys the prospects another year of development. Hopefully the Hawks are in playoff contention and have no need to unload him at the deadline. |

There is never any surprise with the hype for prospects. Some fans just forget what they read and or saw about a player's evaluation as last season was ending.
Boqvist has a couplevof things he jas to learn and become proficient at doing. On the defensive side. Important parts of hiw to play the game. Folks he is not far removed from being a raw prospect defensively.
The question becomes: does Boavist develop better faster proper as can be under whose watchful eyes and instruction - Is it London Ontario Junior or Rockford AHL?
Originally the plan called for Campbell, recently retired former Blackhawk, to visit and give advice/instruction when Boqvist team was in town (London).
Oh great for some unexplainable reason i now have London town and Sultan of Swing song by Dite Strait playing in my mind. If only thete was a scrimmage to take my mind elsewhere.
I hope some Blackhawk comes in and out of no where wows 'em. Maybe goes on to an NHL career.......similar to the dire straight the Dire Strait band faced when the song was.written. An ok song for me, i went to google the history behind it. In a 1985 live Aid performance in England of major proportion, the group played between Queen and U2. They announced that they would be hereforth known as Dire Straits.
I nominate Tuulola, Blackawk AHL dman, to make a major breakthrough. Although not as grandoise as that band. I guess with expansion in two years as he leaves the crowded competition in Chicago |
