Trading Andrew Shaw while is value was high was the right move. He's breaking down and his resurgence last season is not a reason to keep him when you can get two draft picks for him.

Drafting Caufield make the Habs latest draft a success by itself.... and they've been on a roll the last few years in that area so I'm gonna give them a vote of confidence for the other picks.

Habs have young guys coming up to fill out the roster this upcoming season if nothing else happens. Better that than bringing a terrible contract on board through UFAs.

Of course, they'd welcome elite talent through trade/offersheet with open arms.

Tanner I don’t think Tallon is a brutal GM. He built the foundation that made the Hawks a force. Bowman inherited that team and even some hawks players came out and publicly said as much.

Then he went to the horrible Panthers franchise and lead their last place team to their first division title. He stepped away and let Rowe take over and they went to poop again. Now Tallon is back. Watch the Panthers have a great season.

Doesn't really matter that Tallon is a good GM or not. The fact that he isn't 30 or younger is Tanner's real issue with him. He is part of the "old boys club/network" that Jimmy is trying to tear down to save us all from ourselves. He doesn't yet know this....But age discrimination is real! And Jimmy is guilty!

Melnyk said the Leafs forgot D, then he brought in 2 of their D and their special teams coach as head coach. As long as they keep their lotto pick this year, that's a brilliant summer. Zaitsev's deal is okay because they won't make the playoffs for five years so it doesn't matter.

It wasn't special teams, he was the team's defensive coach. he was responsible for the defensive systems.

But yeah, The Ottawa Senators win the worst offseason, if for no other reason than Melnyk has made an a$$ of the entire organization, yet again.

Panthers signed Joel Quenneville, the second winningest coach in NHL history and signed Sergei Bobrovsky, best goalie available and one of the best in the NHL. Yet, they did the worst in the Atlantic in the off season?

This is just too funny.

Bet you 20$, if they were to sign Gardiner that opinion would change in a hurry.

The worst gm ever is George Mcphee. And Steve Yzerman. The two dumbest gms ever and neither of them is in Florida so how can Florida be the worst rib organization?

I think we're all going to need you to explain how Yzerman is considered one of the worst GM's of all time... because you sound like a clown without any sort of proof with a dumb statement like that.

Florida had loads of cap space without any key player to resign, so it's not like the Brobrovsky signing handicaps them in any way. It's playoffs or bust for them this year, so Bob will help them achieve that. I also think the Connolly signing was a shrewd one, he will give them tremendous scoring depth for the same money Pitt gave Tanev. The Stralman signing is questionable, but at least it's only 3 years. He might also rebound being healthier and paired to a good partner, which he will likely be.

Huberdeau - Barkov - Hoffman
Vatrano - Trocheck - Dadonov
Sceviour - Borgstrom - Connolly
Hawryluk - Malgin - Acciari/Tippett/Heponiemi

Yandle - Stralman
Matheson - Ekblad
McCoshen - Pysyk/Weegar

Bobrovsky
Montembeault

Looks like a playoffs team to me. Especially in a weak Atlantic division. Tallon certainly doesn't get an A+ (Stralman and Bob overpaid by maybe a million or two), but I wouldn't say he's had a bad offseason.

You had me UNTIL you said weak Atlantic Division...Tampa Bay, Boston, and Toronto are not weak. Montreal should/could be better than Florida too.

And...you had me until you said Habs should be better than Florida. I disagree wholeheartedly. I would take Floridas lineup over Habs any time. Barkov, Heberdeau, Trochek, etc. I betting Florida makes playoffs, Habs well outside top 8.

Detroit and Ottawa are basically 12 free wins for anyone else within the Division. They're arguably the two worst teams in the league. I think Tampa and Boston are bound to regress, maybe not by a lot but enough to make the Division more interesting. Habs are a toss-up, if Price has a Vezina-caliber season, they probably make it, if not, they're a lottery team. Buffalo is the unknown. Might skyrocket up the standings, might falter and turtle back into irrelevance.

So yeah, I'd say the Atlantic is a weak division on the whole. Especially when you compare to the Central or the Metropolitan.

Lol.

Who cares that there are a couple of basement teams? They dont matter when youre jostling for playoff positioning. You have to be one of the bestvteams in the league to get a division seed in the atlantic. The metro? Its a toss up between a bunch of non-contenders. The metro is terrible. Absolutely terrible.

The Detroit Period Stains had the worst offseason. Biggest reach of the draft with Seider along with arguably the worst drafts of all NHL teams. Horrible start to the Yzerman era in Detroit

What did they do to improve, not a goddamn thing. They willl be a basement team for a long time. Poor Mantha

Ironic you say that.

Out of curiosity, how many times do you think the teams in the atlantic played ottawa and detroit?

And how many do you think the teams in the metro played them?

4 and 3.

2 more games total might not look like a lot. But 4 points is basically the difference between finishing in 8th or 9th place.

And with the additions made by the Rangers, Flyers and Devils, the Metro will be very competitive.

And you dont think thats offset by the losses that come with playing teams that are miles better at the top of the division?

Funny that youre now looking at 2 games difference instead of the big 12 you meantioned earlier though.

The rangers, flyers and devils are pure garbage and the fact you think theyll be competitive says it all.

The reality is you take the top teams from the other divisions and theyve got to beat out three of the top teams in the league in the atlantic. Some of the division leaders like NYI, calgary, SJ, nashville, they probably dont stand a shot at a division seed in the atlantic. Wildcards at best. Maybe not even playoff teams.

It’s sad how far the Habs have fallen. Odd how much more difficult things are when you don’t have exclusive rights to all French-Canadian players.

This off season has been a sad mess for them. Bergevin is definitely most likely GM to be fired next
