I think Braun would be more beneficial to Ghost than to Sanheim. I hope by mid point of the season Myers play dictates he gets more minutes and plays with Sanheim.
- FlyerFan16

For sure, I just think Meyers will need some time before he is a staple on the second pairing. You never know though. Ghost Braun and Sanheim Meyers, maybe a 2A 2B situation.

It's hard to believe an American man hasn't won a major since 2003 (Andy RodRichard). The three headed European monster that has dominated for the last 10-15 years is going to be gone soon. It would be nice to see a few American men competing for Majors. I know Johnny Mac is passionate about this.

I think Sampras in his prime would be able to compete with the big 3 now. Certainly at Wimbledon his serve and volley game was so great.

- PLindbergh31

Maybe Sampras. But the game is so much faster and the players are so much stronger now. If you were to watch Feder/Nadal is their primes, and then watch McEnroe and Conners in their primes, it's like the latter are playing in slow motion. Sampras may have been able to hang, but I doubt he'd cement himself in the top 3/4.

You missed a big part of the assumption is that it’s Sanheim and Provy are playing with Braun or Niskanen and Ghost isn’t in that mix.

He very well could be, do you see Morin or Hagg beating out any of these guys? Is that better?

Essentially we have 4 Dmen coming off bad seasons haha Ghost/Provy/Niskanen/Braun, should we be worried?
- ClaudeFather

I think Provorov will get back to where he was. I'm not convinced he was fully healthy after the injury he suffered in the playoffs. Gostisbehere is never going to be anything more than average in his own end, he's got to make up for it by being a 50-60 point elite offensive dman.

Right. Hard for a guy. who could barely stay in the lineup, to be looked at as a leader. Gudas? I admit he played well last year, but I don't see him as the guy you want your young players taking their cues from.
- Dkos

I liked the Niskanen move because it was veteran for veteran and was an upgrade. I don't like the Braun move because of the cost. I didn't think it was necessary.

Maybe his girlfriend has him in a better mood! haha all jokes aside, I'm not too worried about Provy and i agree with ghost. He needs to hit the damn net on the PP.

Yup. Fitness level, training, players being bigger/stronger all a factor. Not to mention the rackets are much better than they were twenty years ago. Forget about late 70's early 80's when wooden rackets were still being used.

I'd feel a lot more confident with Niskanen as my lineman than Amac.
- Dkos

MacDonald was a good partner and mentor for younger players but Niskanen is obviously a far superior player.

I disagree on the women. Henen was great, retired early. I can't think of any way I'd ever forget Sharapova our Bouchard. The thing that I like about the women's game today is how it's not always the same 3-4 players in the finals, you get a lot of rotation.
- jmatchett383

Waifu material aside, they're both pretty limited tennis players.

The only modern woman I enjoyed watching was Radwanska, since she had a bit more in her repertoire than flat ground strokes.

Why wouldn't a team like Arizona offer sheet a Konecny type player, using him as an example $6M for 4 or 5 years?

Sure, there are lots of what ifs that I don’t really like to dwell on...like Myers struggles or Braun really doesn’t mesh the way they hope. Ghost falling of the roller coaster. I don’t want to continue..So yes, there are scenarios where Hagg beats out someone or Morin blows our minds with some really steady kick ass defense.

You have made that very clear. Ha ha. Braun move doesn’t seem like that big a deal to me. They’re not locked into him past this season and fletcher was able to recoup the 2 round pick. Hopefully he’ll be a good player.

Fair enough...I am just not getting upset about starting the season with 8. Wait and see what’s best then.

Not following the context. They want to play the best players to be the best team. Adding Niskanen and Braun is certainly taking ice time away from younger players.
- MJL

is it ok for an old forward to take time away from a young forward?

Or you could think that having a third pairing of Ghost and Myers would allow them to feast on lower competition, and also more point opportunities by perhaps sheltering them with more OZ starts?

Not a bad concept...

I agree that adding veterans can help and support young.players who will be in the lineup. Doesn't change that ice time and opportunity is taken away from younger players. Pros and cons of it.
- MJL

players create their own opportunity. boo hoo poor hagg might not play because they acquired someone better.

I'm not going to back through 2 years of blog comments to prove it. I have better things to do in life than to spend countless hours making you like like a bigger ass than you are. You do a fine enough job of that yourself.
