I see him on second line. IMO Kravstov should start on the 3rd to take advantage of some favorable matchups. |

If he exceeds whatever rewards are in his contract, does the extra cap hit go into effect for the 20/21 season? - TPC
Depends. If we have enough cap room, we absorb it. If there is an overage, it hits our cap for next season. |

I picture you like this...

For nyrangers2 from the last blog:
Hank buyout numbers:
19-20: $4.25M
20-21: $5.75M
21-22: $1.75M
22-23: $1.75M
Staal buyout numbers:
19-20: $2.9M
20-21: $3.7M
21-22: $1.2M
22-23: $1.2M
Hank will never happen and I doubt Staal either. Shatty would hurt next year but like 9497 mentioned between Girardi's hit going down and Nam off the books that saves us $6.5M next year. Would still rather keep Shatty for the year if we can't trade him but it wouldn't be devastating if that's what it took to resign everyone |

Zib should Center the best two players, Panarin and Kakko. End of story. The best teams in the league do this |

That will be the top line in time. I'm not convinced Kakko will be our best RW on October 3rd. I hope he his but it may take him a month or so to get used to the speed and ice surface. Nothing wrong with starting him on the 2nd line and moving him up when he's ready |

For anyone worried about Kakko's performance bonuses he gets $77 if he breaks Selanne's rookie 76 goal season and a free mystery meat dinner to a street meat cart of his choice |

Eventually is fine, but the best way to win is to load up the best you have on one line.
If you win a Ferrari you don’t keep it the garage lol |

Well we definitely agree there. I think we see Panarin - Zib - Kakko by January, if not sooner |

Tom is ecstatic you signed his boy Simmonds |

So I understand the whole arbitration process but what I don't fully get is what happens when an RFA is not eligible for arbitration. If the two sides can't come to an agreement does the player become unrestricted at a certain point or is he essentially held hostage? Like what is stopping Gorton from telling Lemieux that he has to take a 2 year $2M deal since he doesn't have arb rights besides obviously ruining the future relationship with the player? |

he's pretty much held hostage, the only thing that the player can do is sign an offer sheet with another team |

Nothing. But Lemieux technically can hold out as well. I expect a one year deal to be signed between the two parties |

I would have two vets with both Kakko and Krav
Panarin and Zib with either I’m ok with..
then
Strome and Kreider with the other
Then Chytil with Buch and probably Leimeux, Howden or Lias
All predicated on the team as is right now of course

Staal should be the one bought out.
Staal = $2.9 mill savings
Smith to Hartford = just over $1 mill savings
Namestikov @ full value to Blue Jackets along with Dallas 3rd round pick in return for Columbus 5th round pick in 2020. This = $4mill savings
That clears almost $8 mill off our cap. Sure, we get hosed in deal with Blue Jackets, but its not TOO bad. Allows us to sign all our RFA's and be cap compliant for beginning of season. Shatty and Kreider get until trade deadline to build up their value. Above moves also clear 2 important roster spots for kids to come and play. |

Thanks. So if he doesn't get an offer sheet his other option is to sit out the whole year? If he does that when do we lose his rights? Not that I think it will come to that I'm just curious about the process |

I've said for awhile now, I really want this Chytil, Kravs, and Lemeuix line to happen. As a third line, it could be deadly. Teams would be on their heels. |

no, they still hold his rights
there is a deadline to sign, I think by November 1st or he has sit out whole year |

Right but lets say he sits out the whole year. Do they go through this whole process again next offseason or do we lose his rights after the year? |
