I never liked that the Nux coaches never separated the Sedins. They shouldn't have played together except power play and last two minutes of any game. - kaptaan
Crawford did , but their strength was their minds and cycle game . |

I don't think JV needs increase his "physical" in the traditional sense (he has been solid) but he needs to learn how better use his size to get to the net and create scoring chances. |

fixed that for you because Jim Benning said so.
Baertschi 3rd line with Sutter and Virtanen then.
Where does Goldy play? He's training hard except for he has no idea how to keep his feet moving. - manvanfan

When Hank was away from Dank cuz of dank's injury, he ended up scoring more goals and won the Hart trophy...
Would like to have seen more of that Hank. |

Blah blah blah... Two guys who the broons shut down in the finals when it really mattered... Those two might have benefited the Nux more if they could have played apart like other hall of fame players... |

Yup. I’m one of the few who believe in his potential, but he won’t reach it in a limited bottom 6/PP2 role. No room for him on this roster. |

Love your blog Carol but please don't join the chicken little crowd currently dominating Canucks discussions...please, please, please
I for one do not see any cap issues, given the upcoming TV deal, Benning's ELC level depth on the way, and the expiring contracts over the next couple years. Ideally they move Loui but there is no rush.
This year's signings put less pressure on Benning's draft picks and allow prospects to make the jump when they are ready. This year's signings also surround Benning's young core with a strong support group...unlike last year.
Also, I do not feel it is fair to compare the Avs and Canucks as both teams are in completely different phases of their team life cycle. In the last 13 years the Avs have only made the playoffs five times (two of those times being the last two years) and won two playoff series. The Sakic/Roy years were a tire fire but Sakic has shown improvement the last two years (good on him).
In that same time span, the Canucks made the playoffs seven times (five of the misses being in the last six years) and have won six playoff rounds. Given the typical team life cycle, I think it is fair to say that now is the time to bet on Benning's young core. Why not extend EP40's window to win? I like the moves and think this team will surprise over the next four years (especially with the self driven group Benning has assembled). - CoolerHeads

Also, if you'd considered the context of my reply it was to try and see the results over some extended period of time. Which is what the guy was saying about giving it a shot keeping Ferland, bh and BB together and have EP with Miller and JV to make those guys better |

Id like to see Goldy in Utica dominating. If a skilled guy goes down, he slots into that spot |

Perhaps a modified role. As forwards now assembled can provide a lot of line juggling within the top 9. The main trio of EP, BB, Horvat the only consistent top 6. Different looks would make team harder to predict to defend against and lines less stale. |

I think Comets are going to have about 3 or 4 fifty point guys that are hungrier than him.

It's a solid deal, but as you state, the problem is that Benning's management of this team is so horrible, so indefensibly short-sighted and inept, that he's boxed himself in with probably having to give up an asset to shed Eriksson, Sutter or some contract. It's so frustrating to see a team with good young players on a team so horrible mismanaged. Benning was hired because of his drafting acumen and that has played out, but he was not hired to be a general drafter, he was hired to be a general manager. He can't manage a car wash (no offense to managers of car washes) - k

Line juggling is for coaches who don’t understand the importance of chemistry & compatibility. We now have 6 who should always be top 6 with as little juggling as possible. Just figure out which line Ferland & JT are on. Personally, I’d have Ferland with Petey/Boeser, Pearson/Bo/JT & let them gel as units. |

Whether he plays on the Canucks or Comets his salary is only 1 mil now. I would leave it up to JP Barrie and tell him find him a new home or he will be a press box regular.

Not sure if this was already posted, but the article suggests that Ferland is going to play with EP and Brock, while Bo will play with JT and likely Tanner Pearson.
Ferland-Pettersson-Boeser
Pearson-Horvat-JT Miller
Roussel (when healthy - Sutter-Virtanen
Sven-Beagle-Leivo
That's a good mix of speed and skill to play the kind of game that coach Green wants.
I think i'm more pumped for this season that I have been in a long time.
