It would have to be more than Joulevi coming back. Leafs gave up a first for one year of Marleau. And there are still Leaf fans waving the Dubas flag. Four guys making ten mil and eleven players barely over the minimum. And Barrie wants 8M to extend or he goes UFA. Unbelievable. Leafs were looking good before Tavares signing. I was starting to worry they might actually win a cup. No longer
- Hardbalz

Cool story bro. Cant wait for the sequel where the Habs win the cup and those 4 guys all retire on the Leafs.

Someone sounds super pissy. Thanks for making Waddell’s Summer easy. $21M is a drop in the bucket for TD. The guy makes that in a month from just TopGolf.

Focus on developing your own players instead of OSing, then maybe your GM and the entire organization wouldn’t be looking like an asshat right now.

You realize this league is based on competition right? And if he saw an opportunity to try and take advantage of one of the league's sh!tiest franchises, so be it.... this is the NHL, where the big boys play, you wanna cry more about your b!tch franchise getting bullied? You belong in the AHL!!

You realize you're talking about team that had a good playoff run while the Habs did not make the play offs yes?
The so called 'opportunity" was a joke... as if Carolina wasn't going to match that offer... a total waste of time and effort on MB's part.
i'm no Carolina fan, but the offer sheet tendered was total BS and was never going to work... so cultivate those prospects, and accumulate more picks like all of the other goods teams have had to do, and hopefully the Canadiens aren't a 'female dog franchise' for too much longer...

He hasn't been amazing, no... But he's far, FAR from the worst. He's made some solid, bold moves, including the offer sheet. It was a risk, sure, but it was a calculated one. He wasn't going to overpay any UFAs, so, knowing the reluctance of Carolina to pay Aho a decent contract, he tried. It didn't work. Oh well. Now when Aho is UFA, he may just remember that in the end, it was OUR team that got him a deal he liked, not yours. Again, a risk, but we've done nothing here but get in the good graces of a great player. Unlike yours. What did we lose? Nothing. Only gained respect of a player. I'll take it.

DumDum is a terrible business man, just look at his track record most notably with the AAF. Such a great investment he tried to plea victim in a lawsuit to get his money back

That franchise will be folded up and moved elsewhere within the next couple years. I'm sure Aho will warm up to the poutine in Quebec City

You trust ButtMan to a) relocate a precious US team when Phoenizona has been awful financially for years and then b) relocate said team to a Canadian market instead of trying out some brainwave idea of "Hey, they need a team in Nawleans, call themselves Da Crawdaddies"

And also gained the respect of other GMs across the league for trying to rip off that bumhole owner in Carolina LOL Rumor is that the rest of GMs thought it was funny and if Bergevin didn’t do it then someone else would. Even Tallon came out and said so.

Looks good on the morons for rubbing wins into everyone else’s faces this year. Those celebrations were something like a bunch of 8 year olds would do. Can’t wait until they move to Quebec.

Way to go Bergevin!!

No way Habs should persue Gardiner. He is one-dimensional, horrible in his own end. And even if you paired him with s defensive stud, I think Gardiner will want BIG $$$, maybe 6million or 7 million a year, and he will want TERM...6 or 7 years likely. THAT is the biggest draw-back if the Habs are looking forward. The Habs likely are Not a Top 8 team in the east. They won't beat any of the top 3 in the Division...Boston, TB and Leafs are going to be Top 3. So only two WC spots available. NYR and Devils vastly improved, Panthers as well. A wild card spot is far from a sure thing....and quite likely less than a 50/50 proposition.

They are better off holding Cap space, or using it on One and Two year contracts. And getting themselves in position for 2-3 years down the road.

In no way will Gardiner be a difference maker to get them to the playoffs this year...and would be an anchor of a contract going forward. (Us Hawks fans know about anchor contracts....Seabrook...sigh)

I was all for Gardiner, but the fact that he still haven't signed, and reading a lot on him lately, made me sour a bit. I would still add him for 3-4 years just for the purpose of boosting the PP, but not at 7M/per.

IMO, if the Habs really wanted to sign Gardiner they wouldn't have signed Chiarot.
