come now. there is no end to our depth! Hall, Bratt, Zacha, Wood, Boqvist! Look at that depth! Good thing we signed a 3rd line guy for the right side! Coleman can go on the left too. In all seriousness, we could be ok on the left.

Hall-Hischier-Palmieri
Bratt-Hughes-..Simmonds?
Zacha-Zajac-Coleman
Wood-Rooney/Boqvist-Bastian/McLeod

If we bump Simmonds down..

Hall-Hischier-Bratt
Zacha-Hughes-Palmieri
Coleman-Zajac-Simmonds
Wood-Rooney/Boqvist-Bastian/Mcleod

a 2nd line winger would fix so much.

We wuz talking Butcher yo. Our greatest weakness remains LHD. Greene, Mueller, Butcher. All of our hope is on Smith a prospect that hasn’t spent a second in the NHL.

You are correct! I didn't see that.

Looks like a good bargain for Vegas.

Only FA's left are really Mojo, Ferland, Dzingel and Brassard who I think none really fit our needs now. We could always go the trade route like a Mike Hoffman. Florida just handed out over 20mil in new contracts (Connolly, Acciari, Stralman, Bobrousky, Vatrano), they still need to se-sign Malgin and McCoshen (they only have around 4.8mil cap room left). Before they signed Stralman they were looking for a right handed d-man (Maybe a Vatanen?) but now I'm not sure what they would want. Hoffman could fit into our 2nd line nicely with Hughes and Bratt.

But Hoffman is one of their best players. I don't think they'd be looking to move him if they feel they're building a contender, especially with Bob in net.

I have confidence in Smith. Greene, Butcher, Smith.. I think by the end of the season all 3 will be interchangeable.

You can add in Hyden for the 4th line log jam.

I think Wood and Coleman in the bottom 6 is great but penciling in Rooney as 4th line center isn't wonderful. The kid played pretty well but I'm skeptical he's an every day NHLer. Also, if any of these guys gets hurt we are (frank)ED with a capital (frank)ED.

IF we added a legit winger we could move Zacha to 3C and put Zajac at 4C. That's pretty solid.

Agreed and I know he had a great season but has 1 year left and they might not re-sign him for the contract he wants next. Your probably right now that they signed Bobs and look to be going for it all. I'm just looking around the league for a top 6 forward who might be available for a trade (hopefully teams near the cap ceiling). Not many

I think we can land Mojo 3 years 5M AAV, and the guy plays great with possession driven forwards such as Hughes and Coleman. Anyone who puts Bratt as a top 6 RW is a victim of wishful thinking.

Lets hope Ray is considering moving Vats in a package that brings us a legitimate 1/2 RW. He has given us no reason to doubt him. Great trade deadline, great draft/trades, decent ufa signings. A+ Ray

Eveyone quick to move Vats but now you’re making a hole on D, which is weak anyways. Who do you replace Vats with?

We couldn't be further from having a hole on the RD. Have you forgot about Carrick? He paced himself for 30 points per 82 games while playing 13 minutes a night. He was fantastic, and the third pairing will get minimal use. I do not see this creating a hole, so much as filling one. We need quality players playing serious minutes, and having PK/Severson/Vats on the RD is a great problem to have. Vats is #2 RD on most NHL teams, and I am sure we could fetch something we are in greater need of in exchange. Especially if we move him to a contender and eat 50% of his salary.

His services are needed on his strong-hand. RD is log-jammed at the moment.

Anybody check out the Isles???? We are gonna mop the floor with them for many years to come. Their 9 top-paid forwards average 30+ years of age (the three youngest being 28,28,29 at the start of next season)...... Not to mention their remaining cap will be dedicated to extending Barzal.

That club is the next red wings. Tons of contracts taking boys well into their mid-late 30's. Barz must feel like he is playing old-timers when he practices.

I see Vats as very valuable to our d. Pk is great, but hes not a shutdown guy. Whos shutting it down on our defense? Vats may be the best option there, and hes not even great at it, but hes good. Everyone else is more leaky to my eye.

I tend to agree with you here. I see Butch, PK, Vats, Severson as our top 4. Carrick while he did have a good portion of games, may be over zealous to pencil him in as a top 4 guy. Same for Smith who hasn’t played a game in the NHL, but everyone is penciling him into the top 4. Don’t get me wrong, i hope he is as advertised, but there will be a learning curve, etc. And Greene is a ghost at this point in his career. Definitely not top 4 anymore, but value as a bottom pair guy.

I don’t think we really have any shut down D, but we luckily do have very good defensive FWs.

Watching TSN clips before bed I had a dream the Devils got Marner to sign the offer sheet for one year at 13 million to let Hall know they are serious

Don’t see it happening. Frankly I’d be happy to see Ray Ray just make a solid move to add one more quality free agent.

But looks like we shot our load with Simmonds and the draft/PK.

The draft picks are a massive hit, but this is a darn good team, that will honestly only get better as literally everyone besides Palms, Hall, Zajac and Coleman continue to Develop and mature. And out of those 4, all but Zajac should continue to maintain their current pace for the next 3-5 years. Those 4 1st round picks for a ridiculously overpriced player, would likely be in the 20s for the next 4 years.
