If anyone still worries about Simmonds, read the Q@A on nhl.com with him, listen to what Shero says about him. It made me love that we got him even more.

He's totally not what I thought.

I’d like a longer deal for butcher, hopefully turns out to be one of those deals that are a steal.

I think we are done except for maybe that one unknown depth player Ray signs late when he can get a good deal. Who will be this years PJ Parenteau or Drew Stafford?

It's a bit disappointing because I feel like we are really close to being a damn good club. I'd be stoked if we could get Gusev or one more good piece.

I think you are right. The open question is, based on Hall's previous comments, has the team improved enough to sign long term. Hopefully Shero finds out that answer and takes the next appropriate steps.

I'm still hoping that Ray makes a move for Gusev.

Also signing depth players is still fine because it's not like the majority of the AHL guys were tearing it up with all the ice time they were given last year.

I would go after Gusev too.

Is it possible for us to try and trade to get our own 2nd round pick for next years draft, then be able to offer the right compensation for an offer sheet?

I believe you have to have your original pick and it can't be just any team's 2nd round pick. $4,227,437 and below is a 2nd round pick, and $4,227,438 and a above is a 1st and a 3rd. So it'll be interesting to see if teams are interested in trying to sign Gusev for, but I think Vegas would be able to match and hit the upper limit of their cap overage for the offseason.

That's what i mean though, If we traded with Nashville to get our own 2nd rounder for next year back (that we traded them in the Subban deal).

Can't offer sheet Gusev. He hasn't played a game in the NHL.

Can't offer sheet Gusev because he never played a game in the NHL.
- dcolli18

What i meant was i would rather go for Gusev first, 2 years and 4 million per year is easily manageable.

If not, then we could go the offer sheet route. Was just curious if we could say trade our 2nd in 2021 to nashville to recoup our own 2nd rounder for 2020 so that we would then have the compensation needed for an offer sheet.

I agree we should go after him but what I'm saying is the only way to get him is via a trade. He is ineligible to receive an offer sheet.

The problem isn't Gusev's contract, it's getting his rights from Vegas. No idea what Vegas is asking or how it could work out; but it would be great to work something out... and maybe Jon Merrill back also. (KIDDING).

Looks like good guesses. No idea if Poms has anything left but Pirri wouldn't be the worst. That Mike Folik option is looking better...

You are correct! I didn't see that.

Looks like a good bargain for Vegas.

Yep, I’d like to buy up some of his UFA years with this contract, we aren’t exactly deep on the left side.

There’s no saying that Noesen won’t be back, he’s still out there (as is Drew Stafford). Also one Ben Lovejoy remains unsigned.

Not sure Vegas is going to be keen on shopping Gusev. Ferland is still out there though, wondering what his demands are.

come now. there is no end to our depth! Hall, Bratt, Zacha, Wood, Boqvist! Look at that depth! Good thing we signed a 3rd line guy for the right side! Coleman can go on the left too. In all seriousness, we could be ok on the left.

Hall-Hischier-Palmieri
Bratt-Hughes-..Simmonds?
Zacha-Zajac-Coleman
Wood-Rooney/Boqvist-Bastian/McLeod

If we bump Simmonds down..

Hall-Hischier-Bratt
Zacha-Hughes-Palmieri
Coleman-Zajac-Simmonds
Wood-Rooney/Boqvist-Bastian/Mcleod

a 2nd line winger would fix so much.
