Well, if any of those 3 are dirt cheap... not the worst thing out there. Its when he overpays for replacement level veterans its an issue. - Guile
agreed! Maybe a 1 year boost their net worth type of deal (while potentially playing for a cup). |

ESPECIALLY if we somehow get rid of JJ. Then one of those guys to be paired with Gud while Petts tests the waters with Schultz is a good risk signing. |

Well, found the segment Pagnotta was on the Fan for... now to listen in the background for that JJ info. |

If I'm JR I'd be circling back to Minnesota for a deal. Pair up JJ, Bjugstad and a 1st for Zucker.
Hell, even revisit a deal for Rask. JJ and Rust might get it done.
The Pens will need a couple mil and some roster space cleared up to have a shot at a value signing. |

(frank)... Where the (frank) you going to play Rask if you get him swapped for Johnson? That would 100% kick Bluegar out of the starting 12 |

Happy 4th of July... get into the moonshine bright and early did you?
As I mentioned the Zucker trade would be ideal.
In the Rask suggestion he likely fits somewhere in the bottom 6. Blueger needs to be able to beat someone out for a spot, even if that means Rask being on the bench. If Blueger can't beat out any of the current roster players then he should be kept in the minors. |

If they move JJ, Rust and a first, I truly hope they consider to make a play for Gardiner. |

Agreed. Gardiner isn't my favorite player and I think he will be overpaid but he would be perfect to round out the LD on the 2nd pair. |

I wouldn't mind trading a few players away if we ended up signing one of: Ryan Dzingel, Micheal Ferland, Jake Gardiner, or Marcus Johansson. I'm surprised these players are still available honestly! JR has pulled off crazier feats so we can all hope he trades JJ and someone else to open up some cap space. Sadly as I posted above though. I think he will sign someone like Phaneuf, Lovejoy, or McQuaid for the bottom pairing if the previous JJ rumors is true. - 123Kid
From what I've read, most of the better names holding up the market are waiting for teams to clear cap space. I'm real curious to see where Gardiner ends up. Montreal seemed the obvious fit to me and they still have all kinds of space after not getting Aho. |

I'd say if there's any truth to that JJ rumour he'd be disposed of much like Hunwick. So instead of Sheary, Hunwick and a 2nd(?)....it'll be Rust, JJ and a pick.
That move would clear 6.75 mill in cap space.
Low bawling Petts, ZAR and Teddy total cap hit id say would come in around 4/4.5 mill. - MattStrat
I keep reading they want to go the other way with Pettersson on a long-term deal around 3M. That's a bargain if he's in your top 4, but I care more about the next few years and would rather do a 2-3 year bridge deal. |

9 Minute mark is where Jack Johnson talk is brought up and it IS mentioned for being 'the guy' the Penguins are probably going to be the one moved to shed cap. - Guile

I wouldn't mind Gusev coming back to Pittsburgh. I would assume we would have to move another contract to sign him though. |

Watch the Leafs trade Nylander. Look at their cap position. If youโre going to keep Mitch ya basically gotta trade Willie. Tons of teams out West will have interest |

I would still trade Horny over Bjugstad, but I would assume Bjugstad, rust and or JJ will be moved especially if we traded for Gusev (I could see Simon moved since Vegas has cap issues). Logically I would say Horny, JJ and Simon would be traded and our lines would be
Guentzel - Crosby - Kahun
Galchenyuk - Malkin - Gusev
McCann - Bjugstad - Tanev
Zach Aston-Reese - Blueger - Wilson (if he resigns or Bjorkqvist).
Mccann on the 3rd to limit his time a bit due to his PK ability.
Letang - Dumoulin
Schultz - Pettersson
Gudbranson - Riikola (or FA signing)
Power play could be Guentzel - Crosby - Galchenyuk or Gusev with Malkin and Letang as D. Or Guentzel - Crosby - Malkin with Letang and Schultz as the D. |

JR and McPhee have some good face from the expansion draft and the Brass and Reaves trades, I know McPhee isnt the GM anymore but hes still there....also the Pens and Knights have already pulled off a 3 way trade. So they have that experience together.
These two things alone give me a smidgen of hope for Gusev. |

If they got Gusev, I would definitely want him on the top PPs he happens to play Phil's spot.
This will likely cost futures and/or cheap players, but the system looks stronger after adding Joseph, Poulin, and Legare. |

Np. I'm still trying to refind the tweet someone threw at mark madden a couple weeks ago showing that JJ was no better in the 2nd half of the season.
Can't remember who posted it up here.
edit: nvm, my dumbass brain realized it was on my phone history, not my PC. Got it.

Mccaan Tanev or Wilson have to be with Crosby or Malkin. Someone who will forecheck and be the first guy in. Really hoping Wilson is resigned. A lot more to that guy than carrying a Cullen line around. |

Galchenyuk and Kahun are pretty good on the forecheck. |
