I’m sure JR has a wishlist on his wall and Dion was under JJ. |

Meh, The Sens aren't really giving up anything and they still have to hit the cap floor/ice a roster
Bjugstad and ZAR are serviceable, Maybe Ottawa wants a "tough guy" to police the youngsters like Gudbransson?
To me I'd think Vegas would be wanting more, not that they should, but if they think they have the next Dadanov or Panarin, then they'll want more than a distant 2nd and a 3rd - RoloTahmasee
If they think that don’t you think they’d open up room for him |

Agree, they value Hornqvist too much as a leader. They're not trading him. It's JJ, Rust, or Bjugstad. - Tojo.
I think he wants players that are younger, tenacious and dont have a cup. Maata had 2, rust has 2, Kessel has 2.....Bjudstad has 0 I think he stays, Rust is a goner. He's vanilla so who really cares anyway. |

Can play anywhere in the line up, younger, cups, playoff performer, top pker. He’s so vanilla he’s almost chocolate |

If they can unload JJ, they will likely have to add a player, would one think that could open enough space to get Gardiner?
And can a GM reach out to a player and discuss such a senerio? - Doogs
They can talk all they want technically... but it could be a risky. If the word gets out then that could heavily influence a JJ trade, and could also make other teams try to bid up Gardiner to (frank) us OR try to prevent the JJ trade so we can't make the move. |

Dave Pagnotta from the 4th period just said the chatter he's hearing is that JJ is the most likely player the Pens move to dump salary. Said he has talked to someone in JJ's camp who said the Pens have informed him something may happen after the market shakes out. Pens may also be looking for a bargain defenseman to hold that #6 spot
EDIT- said 3 teams have at least talked about JJ as a plan B option but are trying to get other players first. Take it for what you think it's worth. - Tojo.

I'd say if there's any truth to that JJ rumour he'd be disposed of much like Hunwick. So instead of Sheary, Hunwick and a 2nd(?)....it'll be Rust, JJ and a pick.
That move would clear 6.75 mill in cap space.
Low bawling Petts, ZAR and Teddy total cap hit id say would come in around 4/4.5 mill. |

I really think that if JR rid of JJ and his 3.25 cap hit he'd sign the unsigned RFAs and then get....Phaneuf for cheap.. - MattStrat
I was thinking this myself. Especially because the Phaneuf camp has been saying he received few offers, but would like to play for a Cup contending team. |

Ah well (frank)... those are SUPER hard to sift through... better off tweet at whoever's show he was on for confirmation. You know which segment? |

If he signed Dion for a year for minimal money I think Id be fine with that over having JJ back there....but we can not trust JR to sign anyone for cheap and short term haha.

I mean in the grand scheme of things I'd be ok and wouldnt lose sleep...but I really dont want to lose Rust. He's like a swiss army knife that comes to play every game. I really appreciate his hustle and his cap hit isnt bad at all. |

Happy 4th of July to you Americans around here.
I suspect there wont be much action around the league today. |

I do not want to lose Rust. I also did not want to lose Sheary... however, my wanting rid of JJ would legit let me not be mad about losing Rust AND Sheary. So losing just one for a JJ dump is fine for me.
Also... where the (frank) is Rust going to play if Kahun takes his spot on the 2nd line? Or Tanev jumps him... or they keep Simon on the 3rd? I don't view Rust > McCain for the 1st line, and I believe Chunky will get a shot with Malkin to start off.
If the argument for keeping Rust is that someone we could have the best 4th line in the NHL... then get rid of him to dump JJ. |

I wouldn't mind trading a few players away if we ended up signing one of: Ryan Dzingel, Micheal Ferland, Jake Gardiner, or Marcus Johansson. I'm surprised these players are still available honestly! JR has pulled off crazier feats so we can all hope he trades JJ and someone else to open up some cap space. Sadly as I posted above though. I think he will sign someone like Phaneuf, Lovejoy, or McQuaid for the bottom pairing if the previous JJ rumors is true. |

Well, if any of those 3 are dirt cheap... not the worst thing out there. Its when he overpays for replacement level veterans its an issue. |
