I long for the days where 100 point players were considered superstars. 30 point-83 points is considered a superstar? He's a good player. A second/third line center on the Bolts.
Scott Gomez also made 80+ points once. Was he also considered a superstar?
Montreal barely made the playoffs with the help of a lot of officials and the league. Fact is I can't wait for their dirty, putrid piece of poop province to separate so the league can get rid of that garbage team. - Bolts91
i know this is confusing because Montreal did manage to match Tampa's playoff win total this year, but the Habs actually missed the playoffs.
and the bolded, very topical and soundly, soundly reasoned.

You're like the opposite of common sense and reasoning! And welcome to the new NHL, get used to it. Salaries are higher, the players have more rights and say in their careers.........and the President Trophy winning teams get swept in the first round and ruin your hockey pool, spring/summer/life and credibility.
Did you get your seeing-eye to type all of your trash for you? Cuz if that's your take on Aho.....then may god have pity on your soul.
Stay swept. |

Habs wouldn't be able trade those picks or offer sheet another player. Could hurt them if a trade came up. - systemtool
Hurt them if a trade came up? Just say Carolina is matching, give us 5 days until it's formal and we will continue to go ahead with the trade agreed upon. |

When you are a franchise that can only sell 20-22million in tickets in a calendar year, and have the profit sharing that the NHL does, for sure the owner doesn't have a problem matching. Everyone that says this is an easy decision is kind of dumb. You think its good business to take 22 million and give it to one player when you know you are going to lose money next year? Teams like the Canadiens, Leafs, and other big market teams, keep poor franchises like Carolina Existing. I think its pretty arrogant for an owner to say its an easy match when he knows the other owners are keep his crap franchise afloat. 22 million to aho in 1 year is alot for a team that loses money hand over fist.

i dont think the word moron is suitable to describe this garbage person. You do know the league was born in this garbage province; that this garbage province produced the players that saved your garbage team from folding?; Your Gm is from this garbage province, and how many ex-pats have hockey clinics, skating schools and build the future of US hockey in probably one of the most backwards, poopty cesspools of a STATE that is Florida. If you recorded all the stupidity done and that comes from Florida onto paper in the last 100 year, the amount of books that would be written stacked together would reach the moon and back. Florida contains, and i believe this is consensus, the trashiest of the trash people on earth. haha, people like you make this world poopty.

There are a lot of things that should have gotten Don Waddell (aka the second dumbest man in hockey after Bergevin) fired but this should be his final nail in the coffin. Montreal has the worst team in the league. Worst D and worst forward core. He is passing up on likely picks 1, 32, and 63. Lafreniere will run circles around Aho. As dumb as Bergevin is, Waddell may be even dumber. - Bolts91

Why bother, MTL isn't prevented from acting on other players because of the Aho offer sheet. Making the announcement is more about CAR than it is about MTL, and getting it out of the way comforts CAR fan base, eh.
- Frozendisc
But as long as Carolina hasn't signed off that they will match the offer sheet, that 8.5 is off limits to MTL, as well as being able to offer those 1st, 2nd, & 3rd round draft picks either as trade fodder or on another offer sheet (like Marner) until Carolina signs off on matching the offer sheet. I would have waited another 6 days to do so, but I guess Waddell and Dundon want to show the fans that they are serious about maintaining a winner in the Carolinas, and I don't blame them one bit. For Bergevin, payback can be hell. Maybe in a couple of years Carolina can do the same thing to him with Potkiniemi or Juulsen, or the Suzuki kid. |

I hope mtl does offer sheet marner. He doesn't want to play in Toronto. If he did, he'd take the crazy amount of $$ they are offering him (even though this group hasn't even won 1 playoff round....). I guess he wants to squeeze every penny he can (like Nylander and Mathews did) so he can be a just a little more wealthy but on a losing team. Trade him and get a #1 D and another top 6 forward. Good riddance! |
