He certainly is a good player, but I am guessing the term/cost will be in the 'great' player level, so I would be surprised to see him in MTL.

I think he brings a lot more to the table than Myers, he should get more. It's just those pesky playoffs that get him down.

Maybe, but somehow I think he is seeking more in the 8 mil a year area, which I would not do. Not sure I would give him 7, unless the term was only 3 years. He just seems like he is enjoying the luck of timing, as opposed to actually being worth the big money.

You can go 10% over the cap in summer, so IF they ended up with both Aho and Gardiner, you dump salary. Many team will give up a 3rd pick for Drouin! And MB can give away a prospect or bottom 6 forward for basically nothing if a cap floor team will take Alzner off our hands. Many ways to dump salary over the summer. Losing Drouin for nothing may be a hard pill for some to swallow, but if it means we get Aho, I say goodbye give away machine all day long!

Not necessarily, if Gardiner came in at 7 mil/yr, and then Aho's contract at 8.4 mil/year, MTL would just need to move out a pretty small contract to get under cap. The CBA allows to be over for a short time, I think 10% over, so it would be possible. With the scarcity of offer sheets, hard to know what MTL was thinking or hoping for, but I think there were talks about trade and MTL was trying to push the issue.....but just a thought, no idea for real.

Gardiner has made some bad plays in his own end but this market makes him out worse than he is. The concern with him should be his bad back...if hes fully healthy hes pretty good player.

ive been kicking ass with disk and arthritis issues for 30+ years. you just have to stay out of the training room 👍

they will just tell you to get surgery then rehab and rest 🤦‍♂️

If it’s truly down to MTL and WPG it behooves the Habs to wait. If Jake has shortlisted these two the longer they wait the more likely price will come down even if it’s just slightly. If WPG blinks first and signs him then MB should consider OS’ng either Laine or Connor because they have roughly $22M in cap space to sign those two, morrissey, pionk and copp
