For Gusev, I would honestly be comfortable sending Hornqvist somewhere and I'm a big fan of Hornqvist. He just screams 60 plus points and hi end possession forward who would absolutely help Malkin out. Also, Galchenyuk is comfortable on the off wing as well so you wouldn't have to flip him right away.
- burgh4life87

my glimmer of hope:

- Gusev apparently has trained with Malkin in the off-season
- Pens reporters have said that Pens management thinks getting Malkin right and getting Malkin wingers is a top priority

so youre telling me theres a chance??

Isn’t using a roster under 23 the same thing you jump on Rino for? 🤔
- WSCTeton17

Yep. Ideally Hornqvist and Desmith Are moved for cheaper replacements but I was running out of time on my lunch break and had to bounce.

Edit: unfortunately my recent job does not allow me to (frank) off on hockey stats websites as often as I used to. I’m pretty much relegated to lunch break when I go home to take the pup out and some nights after work if I’m not playing puck or at the gym.

I wonder if Gusev will have an NHL career as illustrious as Vadim Shipchyov's.

Nor does JR think that's a problem which is insanely mind boggling and maddening all at once.

30 minutes of NHL hockey over 3 games. One goal and then never played again. But he was also 30 at the time. If we can clear the space, I absolute send over a mid round pick or some mid level prospect to get him.

Yeah, for a mid round pick or prospect to take a chance on him, sure.

For a first rounder and a top-5 system prospect...well, I'd pass.

AJ? You mean Spezza? I’m not trying to be snarky it just is what it is. I imagine he signed believing he would be playing center and getting PP2 time
- WSCTeton17

No i figured AJ would center line 3 and Spezza would take the 4th line

We do the best with what we have, I get it. I kinda come and go as I please but whenever we need it I work nights, weekends, and sign clients whenever and wherever they need it. Very envious of anyone who gets to continue to play hockey (as long as they’re not being goons / d bags about it)

You figure Babs will have Spezza play 4C? I figure you’re likely wrong. He loves his seasoned vets

Did anyone hear the press conference with GMJR. He kept pronouncing Galchenyuk "Gal-chen-ee-yak". I'm not trying to be overly picky here, but someone was posting that players might not want to come to Pittsburgh. He can't feel all that welcome if his new GM can't even pronounce his name... No class.

Oh yah, I wouldn't touch that trade with a ten foot pole. Not for something unknown. But he certainly is worth the money and mid level assets

I play B league in Florida. It ain’t nothin special hahaha. But there are way too many beer league super heroes out there. I also didn’t start playing regularly until I was working for the Lightning back in 2010. My family was too poor to afford hockey while growing up hahaha

The late first round pick and a prospect that is an unknown are both unknowns. You’re trading 2 unknowns down the road for an unknown next season that could turn out to be a top 6 winger for Malkin. I’m all for that poop. (frank) the late round pick and prospect.

I bet Gusev goes to Colorado. That just seems like the savvy move they would continue to make. They have cap to play with the next two seasons. Second guess would be Columbus. That is, unless, someone is dumb enough to trade for Eakin.

You have to be group 2 or group 4 to receive an offer sheet.

Aho played three seasons before turning 22, which makes him a group 2.

Playing 2 seasons before turning 24 renders you a Group 2.
Playing a single season 24 to 27 renders you a Group 2.
Gusev has never played therefore is technically in the same category as a guy you just drafted.

That was helpful, thanks

No class? Not sure it's a class thing... its stupid to not have someone prep you on saying a players name.

A reason to not want to come here over a name? No dice, that's an utterly moronic reason. It's an annoyance at most.

Now, if your coach can't get your name right, that would be an issue since that's a day to day interaction.

$4 mil for Gusev? If I’m JR, I am definitely asking them if they want Rust plus a prospect and/or picks. If he doesn’t pan out then I’m certain a team with some cap room would trade for him at that salary, especially if it’s no more than 2 years. If they didn’t want any salary back, I’d give a conditional first round pick depending how long Gusev signs for

I would suggest this was ONE of the problems, but not the only one by far. And no, it has not been addressed.
- Cousinskrid

I'd say the biggest problem right now is the 3 worst players on the team at getting the puck back an keeping it on offense are JJ, Schultz, and Galchenyuk and they're probably going to spend a lot of time on the ice together.

When I lived in Florida I did rat hockey a few times. It was during the summer so we had a few Florida Everblades players on the ice but there were also some awful players who could barely skate. It was probably the most diverse skill set I’ve ever seen during a rat hockey session. It was pretty cool though because out of the 15 people in my locker room, I think only 2 were actually from Florida.

Hahaha yeah that’s how most of the teams I play on are. I play on 3 teams and I think 5-6 guys total out of the 3 teams are from Florida

I have no idea what the cost would be other than not sending salary back, but I'd imagine there would be multiple teams bidding. Fortunately, it's probably the type of deal where you want to send the payer to the other conference.

To me it’s obvious that McCrimmon isn’t trading within the west, he’s sending guys east but he’s taking his time with Gusev

You guys think I don’t have the insider scoop? Check this out...

Per my female roommate: Benn wasn’t going to re-sign in Montreal because he has pitties (pitbulls) and they’re banned
