Barrie was going to walk next summer anyways with Makar, Girard and now Byram in the organization. After trading Soderberg, Kadri is a really nice Center addition for the Avs. NOT looking forward to seeing the jag-off Kadri 5x a year against the Hawks

Barrie is a rental, he'll be on the Canucks next year.

I can't believe Leafs got Kerfoot in that deal as well.

Good trade for now, but assuming Barrie has a great year, he’s gonna probably get north of 8 mil next year, meaning it will be a complicated offseason cap wise again.

Also, Kerfoot needs a new deal now......he’s probably gonna get something similar to johnsson or Kapanen..maybe not quite as much, but close.

The abs keeping 50% of barries salary is only saving the leafs like 1.3 mil

Not sure why everyone loves this for the leafs. Barrie is a year away from UFA, and with the all the young D on Colorado he didn’t fit, Kadri under term is a huge get for them
- Ross77

I agree, And add that Kadri’s term is at a very good price. Barrie will get 7+ on his next contract and it will be difficult for the leafs to afford him.

Helps both teams.

Leafs can’t resign T.B. But I hope it’s fun this year.

Naz will be loved by Avs fans. Hate to see him go.
But his playoff bs, he had to go.

Tanev doesn’t seem like such a bad move after seeing this trade go down.

Could deal for both currently, better deal for Avs long term unless leafs can manage to somehow get Barrie signed long term.

Thing is they may keep Barrie. They have Barrie, Muzzin, and Ceci and odds are should be able to still make moves. All depends on what these guys want in the end to stay, if they do.

Thing is Kadri is good but only when engaged and he is beyond inconsistent there. Add in his stupidity and issues with the refs yeah glad to be rid of that

Loved Kadri in the playoffs. The only guy in the Leaf line up who made the Bruins pay a price. A soft Leaf team just made themselves a lot softer.

Kadri is a 30 goal center on one of the best contracts in the league. Dubas should have been able to get better than 1 year of Jake Gardiner 2.0

ya, it sucks when you lose all your d-men like Trouba, Myers and Tanev and do zero in free agency so far to fix the d...

Yup he totally helped the Leafs win every playoff series since 2003. Oh no wait...

Coz the goal is to beat up on the bruins as opposed to beating the Bruins, right

He’s not wrong. The leafs, a massively cap strapped team, just traded one of the best contracts in the NHL, for a dman who’s going to get a massive contract next year.

They’re either going to lose him for nothing after this year, or have to give up a bunch more assets to clear more cap space.

Kadri plays with heart. Tavares and Matthews put up good numbers, they are good players but they disappear when the going gets rough.

Are you kidding? What did the Leafs lose? They dumped junk for Barrie. The kids these days.
