The more i think about the Zuccarello signing, the more i have to question what the hell Fenton is doing?!!!! How does handing a 32 year old player who is past his prime a 5 year deal for $30 million help this squad? 2 years? Fine with me, i could maybe even see my way to giving him 3 years, but 5 freaking years when you're already anchored to two other long term over the hill players for another 7 years?!!! On top of that, he demanded a NMC, so here we go again ala Chuck Fletcher...
What a complete disappointment Fenton is as a "go to" GM. My belief is that he's feeling the pressure to make that "splash" move that keeps eluding him, after making several questionable if not bad trades and this was his best possible attempt at redeeming himself.
I'm not saying Zuccarello isn't a good solid player, but in almost every way he's not the player this squad needed to bolster an already aging and under performing offensive roster. Just so disappointing.
