We signed (frank)ing Wayne Simmonds to a 5 mill deal for one (frank)ing year! He is one of the few hockey players that I ever wanted to be wearing red and black outside of Kesel!

Still way too early to tell, could depend on who grabs the last couple spots at camp, who else we bring in, etc. We have a lot of flexibility which is nice though. Simmonds could fill in with Coleman-Zajac, could have a heavy "4th" line with Wood-Zacha, if he's truly healthy he could be with Bratt-Hughes or something similar.

Also, paying big $$ to these 4 so you'll want to give them more ice time, thus depleting quality depth yes, but needing players to fill a small role, with small minutes.

And you know the cap will go up eventually.

Our franchise has been stagnant for so long. Its time to light the fuse and just go for it.

We still have 20 million in cap space with only a handful of players to sign. If we're getting someone, money still won't be a problem.

How could it have been spent in better ways? None of the big boys worth the money and term were coming here. We still have over 20 million in cap, it is literally irrelevant. After our rfa's are signed, we'll still have close to 14-15 million. Its not a waste because he brings needed aspects to our lineup that we didnt have, and signing him to 5 million doesnt stop us from adding anybody else. Its a low risk/high reward signing. There is no reason to hate the deal, if it works out then great, if it doesnt work out then oh well, hes gone after the season and off the books.
