We took a wait and see approach last off season and we all saw how that worked out. I get that we don't want to overspend on UFAs but man, it would have been nice to snag a top six winger. Everyone keeps penciling Bratt and Jesper Boqvist into the top 6 but that is far from a lock.

I think we should be disappointed about Donskoi and potentially Nyqvist but nobody else

Yep, July 1st is when GMs make crippling mistakes. If there isn’t something of value left, just fill out the roster with one year deals. Need to sign a solid 4C and a depth LHD today and I think Ray is set.

I don't think the contract is the issue. The question is can this guy actually help us out? And frankly, I don't know.

He was exactly the type of guy the Devils needed but his play was an utter shell of the type of player he was. Does he have anything left in the tank?

$5M for 1 year is only a good deal if it isn't a complete waste of money.

On the other hand, if he's health he can sure as poop make sure nobody takes liberties with Jack Hughes... so that's something.

I get he’s not the piece that’s going to put us over the top. I just don’t want multi-year disasters signed today. I’m not sure we could spend all of next years space if we tried.
