Should have let Karlsson walk.

Yep, signing a broken down defenseman who can't play defense and thereby losing Pavelski ought to get someone fired. I'll take Pavelski any day.

Don't forget the rumoured addition of one 607 year old Patrick Marleau. They'll probably give him the money they were going to throw at Joe.

Baffling decision to decide to pay for Karlsson rather than Pavelski. Offense is a premium now. As a Ducks fan I'm pretty happy though because the Sharks are going to be worse next year.

That Doug Wilson for you. Marleau gives him half the peace sign & leaves for Toronto for the 1 extra year & now Marleau comes back on his knees begging Wilson to come back... Just say NO Wilson.. Time to get a younger team..

Nothing is set in stone, but it sure sounds like the Sharks may not have number 8 on the roster this fall.

There will be a #8 on the roster but he may not be Pavelski, I don't think they are retiring his number

I wonder what the players in the locker room will think about this? Let Pavelski walk because you were concerned about $/term - after you signed Karlsson to ridiculous $/term?

From a Kingsfan's perspective this is just sad. I hate the basterd but, he's a fantastic player with grit and soul. Hope he signs for an east coast team. The disaster in full mode would be if the F...ducks signs him

Very similar situation to what happened in St. Louis when (ironically) San Jose eliminated them in the conference finals. Aging captain, who is the heart and soul of the team, wants more money/term than the team thinks makes sense, and can get it elsewhere. To any San Jose fans sad if Pavelski moves on, take comfort in looking at how things worked out for David Backes & the Blues.

Very sad to not see Pavs spend his entire career in teal but SJ helped/hurt the team with the deal with EK. Karlsson has a massive amount of pressure to deliver and Kane is very costly so has to keep up. I would have tried to trade that contract after Karlsson signing but strapped they are.
Timo back in the fold is huge and I hope “the banker” agrees also.
Sharks are a cash strapped team and will have to hope that some Cuda forwards are NHL ready and can step up. I personally think they have a few who have to move to the NHL level and prove or let go.

EK signing I'm not feeling great about and this fall out of having to let the captain walk really stinks. Defense without EK is still damn good, we need a boost up the middle.
