If you can add a guy like Meier, you do it. These prospects look good, but they’re exactly that, prospects. If we miss on Panarin I’m all for taking on salary to add picks/prospects to the pool. If we miss on Panarin I’m also on board with signing Kreider.

Welcome back Jan!

If we miss out on Panarin, then no UFA's really interest me. Trading for a young talent would be an acceptable Plan B --- Kappanen, Meier etc.

No buyouts! Bury Smith with Belesky at Hartford if we must.

As far as Zubov --- very good player, just surprised he is now a Hall of Famer.

Are there any rumors floating about possible Hartford coaching staff?

I agree with no more buyouts. Let these contracts run out and start with a fresh start in 2021

Tommy, nothing concrete in terms of Hartford that I have seen. Some names mentioned by some of the columnists but it doesn't appear as if anyone is in the lead.

If reports are right about the Rangers only wanting to give short term deals to pending UFA like Zucc or Panarin, I don't think Kreider has a future in NYC especially if he's asking for a long term contract with max money. Maybe he's open signing a short term deal at max money with the Rangers though. I don't know.

With his name circulating in the trade rumors so frequently since the last deadline, I think management is contemplating a trade more than a resigning. I don't think they will give him away for nothing though. They'll likely ask for a 1st round pick with a good prospect or a player who has the same playing style of Kreider but a lil. bit younger and already under contract in return. If they can't find a trading partner this summer, then he'll start the season with the Rangers and they'll look to trade him again at 2020 deadline at a premium price. We will see.

Thanks Jan!

Other than signing Trouba and making decision on Kreider --- plotting a future for Hartford may be the most important decision remaining for this off-season...

I think management is well aware of the importance of that. I have faith in JD to hire the right staff and set the correct plan in motion.

SJ and the Rangers do have a fit, I’ve felt like Kreider could go there for awhile. Who for is the question

They’re in some trouble cap wise. They have 3 defenseman eating up almost 26 million, that’s insane. With only 7 forwards signed, they only have 15 million in cap space to sign a bunch of guys including Meier and Labanc. Going to be interesting for them for sure. No way they can give Meier a 7-8 million contract.

as far as UFA's go, it's either Panarin or bust

Pavelski, Duchene, Lee, etc, none of them make any sense for the Rangers to pursue

they'd all be signed to play into their 30's and that just doesn't make sense for what Rangers are trying to build

Panarin fits, none of the other names do.

I don’t know about stand pat. But just don’t go for any of the rest of the UFA crop. I think a trade or two is in order

I think Panarin is ours to lose & if we do, just continue the rebuild, no buy-outs and let these guys develop. If you cant get what you want for Kreider now, just wait till the deadline... If he has another 25+ goal year Teams will want him.

That's actually more what I meant. Cheap 1-2 year deals

I think on a 2 year deal Pavs makes perfect sense. I'm still not sold on Strome as the 2C or that Chytil is quite ready for that role. I don't think Pavs is a long term solution, but I think as some sort of bridge to the future he makes perfect sense. If Strome progresses or if Chytil breaks out, Pavs still looks pretty good on the third line.

it wouldn't be a bad idea, but the fact is, he hasn't even talked to the Rangers, he was in Dallas yesterday touring their facilities, his whole family in tow

seems like it's either Dallas or San Jose for Pavelski and nobody else is in ballpark

Yeah, he seems like a west kinda guy, though I guess you really can't call Dallas west. I do think guys like him or Spezza are worth kicking the tires on. Can't give them too much money or term, but it really would be a benefit for the team.
