They're all being offer sheeted. My source Bruce Orpik told me. He retired yesterday. Marner to every team in the NHL except for the Leafs. G5

There is not one team out there that will give any of these RFA's 12-13mill and give up 4 1st's

Still think more rights for RFA's to eat up even more of the players revenue pie is the hill Players Association are going to die on EK? Think not. I think the players are going to want to take some of the distribution of the players revenue pie out of GM's hands.
If Players Association were smart, they would cap the salary to 2.0 mill per RFA year remaining for that player.

That's the inverse effect that's coming. If RFAs are going to be demanding high salaries right out of their ELC, there will be a lot less money available for veteran players. This will mean a lot more early retirements, and veteran players playing for a small chunk of what they would get in the old era.

The NHLPA loves to see players get paid, but they know as well as anybody that under the current structure, an RFA getting paid more just means a veteran will be getting less.

Yes im sure the E Board for NHLPA which is predominantly NHL vets, will be super ready to give a bigger payout to the guys who in many of their eyes "haven't earned it yet".

The middle class is disappearing.

Just the One Percenters and the lower classes, struggling to make a living.

I blame Trump.

So be it ... let them sit at home, common sense must prevail eventually.

These salary's (and term) are getting ludicrous ... there's so much money you can squeeze out of fans before they start looking at alternate forms of entertainment.

Junior hockey anyone?

The term 'bridge deal" is becoming a 4 letter word....and yet that may be where this all is heading, and yet then the UFA status could kick in...and everyone is afraid of that..

Is this some kind of new language??

is the "space" between both words considered a letter??

A team such as the Islanders would be foolish not to do it
..a middle of the pack team out of the top 15 in draft order would have to consider giving up the 4 1st rounders …

The only offer sheet you might see for any of them, is the 5 year at 10.5 per. This is one that the players might sign cause it walks them to UFA status and 10.5 is a lot of $$$. Teams will hate this cause it forces them to match when the return is only 1 first, second and third round pick.

You would then be 1 serious injury away from being screwed for half a decade ... please, never apply for a GM's job.

Yeah well Hayes got 7 million and Gardiner will soon follow, because the idiot players union doesn't know how escrow works and now everyone is trying to save face

10 million will be good value in just a few years. These teams shouldn’t play chicken with young star RFAs. So many past examples of it backfiring down the line. They key is getting all 8 years. That’s how real contending teams endure. I do hope Rantanen goes first, for any number under 11. Show faith and be rewarded for a long while.

The hardest one to figure out here is Laine. We all know what he can do. But he had a terrible year by his standards.

Lettem sit. Puleez, lettem all sit. As for Marner, sit or trade, fine with either option. I’ve never understood the excessive greed. Some of these guys need to go flip burgers for a summer, because that’s about all they r qualified to do if they didn’t play hockey. After their 1st paycheque I think they’d realize $8Mil or whatever.......isn’t too bad.

Rob Ford was a great mayor and councillor. I lived in his ward and the guy was great for making sure parks were built by developers and that the city kept the place in good repair. His was the only area they had garbage pick up during the garbage strike when the rest of Toronto was a rat infested dump.
