Every year, the Hockey Hall of Fame reveals the new class of inductees and while there are plenty of Habs in the Hall, today's announcement came as a bit of a surprise. |

I get the point but over players like Fleury and Turgeon?
I’m baffled |

If Bob Gainey can enter the hall of fame, no reason why Carbo can't. Now, if anyone wants to argue Gainey shouldn't be there, that's another story. But he is. |

I met Gainey when I was like 8 or 9 years old. He was over in Europe coaching the French national team or something, so they were playing our base team (I was a military brat growing up, so we were in Germany then) I was all excited, had my little Panini sticker book opened up to the right page and asked him for an autograph. He was by himself, coffee in hand watching the zamboni clear the ice.
"Piss off kid."
Somewhat shattered, I was like ummm.... and he reached down to sign it kinda grudgingly. Being a smartass kid who was now upset "Stephane Richer is a much better player anyway, but thanks!" He actually chuckled and shook my hand after. Maybe just caught him off guard or something. |

I’d disagree with that. There’s a huge difference between them in the fact that Bonn Gainey invented that prototype of player. Carbo, while being a really good player and an excellent shutdown F, isn’t on the same level as the Captain. Gainey has 4 selkes and 1 conn smythe |

I met Lafleur when I was about the same age. he came to our trophee evening when they give hardware away to all the kids at the end of the season.
cool guy, but I'll always remember how big his neck was. a real monster! and then I thought, he's just a normal size guy for the league, imagine the others!
as for Carbo, very well deserved. the guy was the best defensive center in the league for years, scored his share of goals, perfected the art of blocking shots, won the Cup and Selke many times... |

Lol cool story, i never had a player do that to me when i was a kid or now...i guess my weirdest anecdote is with Bettman. I lived in London for 8 years and i attended the NHL premiere when the Kings and the Ducks played each other. Bettman was in the seat in fromt of me so I asked him to autograph my souvenir program which he did and then I said: so, when are the Nordiques coming back to the NHL? He looked at me as if to say what the heck? Why am i getting hassled about the Quebec Nordiques in London half a word away?!? Fun times lol

Without Carbo's work on the greatest player of his time (and arguably ever), it's highly doubtful that the Canadiens would have been able to raise Lord Stanley's Cup for a 24th time.
OR THAT CURVED STICK CALL YOU B*STARDS!!!!!!
Aside: Guy was great. |

Are they counting David Clarkson? He will be put on LTiR. |

The scary part now is waiting to see who the casualties are. Colin Miller, Cody Eakin, Erik Haula, and/or Gusev are now essentially guaranteed to be gone via trade
From their blogger on HB. Do we want one of those players above?
Alex Tuch would be my target. Because no, they are not trading Theodore.
If you can't get Tuch, I think you are not helping them without getting a first round pick or a top prospect (Glass, or Hague). |

they have to be cap complaint, including all the LTIR guys, when the season starts....only then will Clarkson go on LTIR.
they're (frank)ed......everyone knows it.......and they're going to likely lose a decent player like Miller for pennies on the dollar
as for Carbonneau getting in....it's a joke. I guess it's now the "hockey hall of defensive 3rd line centres". there were SOOOOOO many more deserving players. |

they wouldn't trade Glass in a deal for Erik Karlsson or Mark Stone....there is ZERO chance they include him as payment for a cap dump |
