You’re wrong. Follow the logic here- Chayka made the trade. Chayka is a genius GM. Therefore, this is a genius trade.
It cannot be otherwise, if you think otherwise you’re wrong. Unless you bring factual information, then haha big joke you thought I was serious lolol |

I think Soderberg is a good addition, but I think you overpaid. That trade was a favor for Col to free up space. If anything they should have sent a 3rd to AZ. Overall not a bad deal. |

Connauton appeared to be the oddman our (although the eastern conference losing skid ended when he was re-inserted for Chychrun...). Soderberg will bring 2nd line production about being a defensive drag. He’s the Richard Panik replacement except he’s proven to have a bit more upside with less of a physical impact. I would assume Chayka is still looking for a top 6 player although he’s certainly muddied the cap situation a bit here
Still, the final roster doesn’t go out on June 25th - we’re still a ways away there |

Please refresh my memory: how many NHL minutes did Hayton and Merkley play last year? |
|
|
|
If you look at an impact chart 10% of player's significantly effect the game.
There is a smaller range of effectiveness between the bottom 90% of players than there is for the top 10%.
A slightly good bottom 6 player is not significantly better than the worst player in the league.
Therefore in a cap league, its a high reward, low risk play to use rookies with upside vs paying tje Carl Soderbergs of the world.

Capfriendly has the Coyotes with the 2nd least amount of cap room after Vegas.
With that roster?
Who’s managing this stuff? |

See what happens when you try to lowball getting someone like Kessel!

Hopefully you realize that with 23 G and 49 P this "bottom of the lineup player" is now the leading scorer from last season on your team.
Chayka is giving Joe even more cap space for something big. |

From the Avs side of things this makes no sense either. The last thing they needed was another d-man unless they are trading Barrie and have a deal lined up already. Without a signed Zadorov or Connor Timmons on the roster they have 7 signed d-men counting . This is assuming Nemeth and Lindholm both walk as well.
Yes this is a Connauton and I wouldn't put him as an upgrade over Nemeth.
We have massive holes at C even with Soderberg and I see nobody in the system that I put as an immediate upgrade over him at Center. Maybe they are going to Offer sheet someone. Cap was not an issue this year and Soderberg came off the books before it would have been an issue.
This is a puzzling trade from both sides as I don't see either team substantially better from it from an immediate impact for the 2019 - 2020 season. |

Great trade for Avs. Getting a 3rd pick for a guy making that dough at that age is good value. A depth D-man never hurts.
Avs have $39 million in cap space |
|
|
|
It does makes sense for the Avs , they gave up a player that hit 20 goals once in his career , can’t skate or finish , making 5 Mil? Not worth it , more salary space to make some serious moves in free agency. Also Cole and Johnson has off season surgery and it sounds like they won’t be 100 percent ready for the season opener. More D depth is never a bad thing |

After the wunderkind signed him to that amazing bargain of a contract? I doubt it. |

But but but but Chayka.... Boy Genius????
Is the bloom off that rose yet? |

So the ‘Yotes don’t need a guy that had more points than anyone else on their roster?
Right... |

Hayton has not played a game of pro hockey. How can you say he can play top 6 minutes this coming season? Soderberg scored 23 goals and 49 points last season on the Avs third line. If he plays with Keller he could match or surpass that. Also Dvorak and Stepan are absolutely not bottom 6 guys. It's absolutely frustrating that these crappy takes are from the main Coyotes blogger on hockey buzz. I guess the apple (Tanner) doesn't fall far from the tree (Eklund). - jmichael7753
Please enlighten me with evidence that a contending team could use Stepan or Dvorak in their top six and be a contending team.
Soderberg is a 34 year old player who isn't going to repeat his numbers from last year. If he plays with Keller, I sure as ___ hope it's because the Coyotes are tanking.
You are "absolutely frustrated" that you get "crappy takes" on this site, but what you're really saying is that you are annoyed that I don't mirror what you think, which is a preposterous standard to hold someone too, as you clearly are a genius. |

Please enlighten me how you know this? What crystal ball are you looking into? Fact is, you consistently present (incorrect) opinions as fact.
The author is not annoyed because you don't mirror what he thinks. That is what your echo chamber is for. Your takes are objectively crappy. There are statistics to back this up. If you can't find them, I'll be happy to make them up for you.
Finally, compared to you, he is a genius. So am I. I'm never wrong. As Cenk Uyger likes to say, "Look it up". |
