Anthony Travalgia: The Bruins shopping list Don Sweeney has a short list of items to address in the offseason.

I love Torey Krug as a player but I think a trade of Krug is the only way to address the glaring hole in the top 6. The Bruins do not have a reasonable internal candidate to fill this void. Krecji desperately needs stable wingers to contribute to his fullest. The Boston blueline is a position of organizational strength and that makes Krug expendable.

I am trading Krejci before I think of trading Krug. I also don't really think they need to do anything going into next season. Get the three kids signed and proceed. Fill any holes with kids next year.

Also, it looks like the going rate to trade Backes would be giving up a first round pick like the Marleau deal.... That is a tough pill to swallow if you don't have to.

I agree with Bruinsfan 76... Krug's playoff and regular season was great...and the hit on Thomas a highlight to watch for years. I also like Krug as a person and he is clearly a component of the 'fabric of the team'. He does however, have the only 'logically movable' contract hit on the team meaning he has value to get a return of what is needed (a top 6 winger) and internal candidates who can fill his role (Gryz, Clifton) … maybe not to the same extent Krug does, but sufficient enough to fill the role.
Face it, no one's taking Backes or Krech (the only 2 'bad contracts' on the team).
The dominos fell just right for us to advance this year (Tampa/Wash/Pitt all out) and if Toronto had've had a better D...we likely wouldn't have gotten out of the first round. If we don't improve our top 6, there is absolutely zero chance for us to come even close to repeating this year's success.

I do agree that Krup is right now the player with the most value on our team. Let's not forget that we still have to sign him next year at a higher rate. This is not a done deal with the salary cap. I think the best senerio is to put Krup, Backes in a package with maybe a second round pick and get a decent top 6 foward in exchange....
This way we have a better team next year and no risk of loosing krup next july for nothing.....

Krejci isn’t overpaid. He also isn’t cheap but his contract is not hurting the team. Hayes just signed for 7 mil. i’d rather have Krejci.

The Marleau deal was quite creative on Dubas’s part. I think Sweeney will have to do the same. I think I would be ok with it as long as it’s a late 1st round pick. Now would be the time to do it.

Creative or desperate. First round pick just to free up some space. Just to have to over pay another RFA.

They may have less defense next year!

Desperate, its not creative at all, teams make trades like that constantly in every sport. But he paid a first round pick to clear 6 million in cap space for 1 year, not even two like we have with Backes. That team is gonna be in deep poop sooner than later and Dubas will be looking for a new job.

That is just the cost of doing business in the NHL. A first round pick might be worth the ability to shed 6 mill off the books.

BIGGEST ISSUE THIS YEAR AND NEXT

It would greatly benefit the Bruins to find themselves a right winger to play on the second line with Jake DeBrusk and David Krejci,

Krejci was one of the Top Centers in the game WHEN he had Power Forward Wingers to play with
YES it is a different game today, BUT the bigger guys that make the League right now can all skate.

Krejci, Debrusk and a Big Body (no more with the Heinen's/JFK's/Bjork's etc. etc..)
you have world class hands in Krejci, World Class Speed and Shot from Jake now get some Speed and SIZE to play with them.

NO way I'm paying Carlo 4m a year he can't even Shoot Great Defensive Defenseman but even his coahes say he needs to get his Shot to an NHL Level.

Chucky 5-6, Carlo 3, Heinen at 2 is fine
