The only way I would want Marleau back is for 750K same with Thornton. Sharks need to get younger, Not have a country club reunion. As for Pavelski if he signs elsewhere that's fine, I can get rid of my stop watch timing him skating down the ice. Sharks need speed & grit..Back to Marleau after he turned down the Sharks 2 year deal & bolted to the Leafs He basically gave SJ half the peace sign now he's on his knees begging Wilson to come back, Wilson is so soft he will bring him back

Patty has no leverage with SJ for $. He’ll come back near the minimum or not at all. It’s pretty clear Gus and Donskoi will be gone, but I hope they don’t trade Dillon. Melker 100% has to go, and hopefully DW can find a taker for Dell.

Pavs stays. Not sure why this is even a discussion. DW said it himself, he encourages his UFA's to talk to other teams...there's no harm in that.

Donskoi, Melker, & Nyquist all wear different sweaters next season...

I dont sense DW wants Pavelski back with term. if he can get 4 yrs from somewhere else them he walks like marleau did 2 yrs ago.

Donskoi -- goodbye 1 G in 39 games
Dell -- we can get that level of backup for 1M
Dillon -- He is traded as the last resort
Nyquist -- always a rental
Melker - he is the casualty of the lower cap
Thornton back for 1-1.5M
Marleau - he wanted to "win" in Toronto. Screw him I dont want him back.
Lebanc and Meier -- a combine 10M

it will be Barracuda and cheap plugs until the trade deadline.

How many teams are in a really poor cap situation. Honestly this is ridiculous. These GM's are getting paid huge dollars to manage their respective teams payroll. Several are failing so miserably you would think they failed remedial mathematics. Very poor execution

Donskoi needs to be kept. Pavelski is an amazing player but getting long in the tooth so cap hit relative to what he gives relative to term plus recent injury history has to be a factor. That said he's a winner pure and simple.

When you have Burns I don't think you need Karlsson. If you could move Karlsson and get a young up and coming dman and other assets you do that. Nothing about Karlsson screams winner like Pavelski.

I respect the Sharks though they have been a thorn in my side for decades. If Jumbo plays he can't get paid anymore period. It's time for him to play for a million.

I think Burns is superior to Karlsson and yet 8 years at max. Only makes sense if you can deal him and reload assets. He's got extreme talent but not enough at the cost a solid depth player and elite dman.

The escalation of these RFA contracts was not expected. Now all these kids think they are the next McDavid franchise player & want $10+ mill. I dont think GM's were expecting what is happening. When the dust clears with all these RFA extensions, a guy like Simmonds is going to be just happy to get a contract. Now if GM's start throwing big money to the likes of Pavelski & Marleau & Perry & then get jammed with these contracts when when a 22-23 year old comes off of an ELC wanting franchise player money... then you have a point.

WTF was Benning doing???? Miller is ok but holy smokes, an injury to Pettersen & the stress levels will go up substantially on lotto day. We kinda experienced that ourselves with that Hamonic deal. I have a few extra grey hair now.

The pick is protected tho. It was bad deal regardless, Miller is just not that good

Anyway, not just for you, would SJ ever consider trading Meier or Hertl? or more likely forced to do that with the cap issues. I’d love the rangers to get either, just curious what the worry meter is on those two

We’d give a nice haul, that isn’t an issue

Very doubtful, those are the two closest assets to untouchable that SJ has. Hertl especially with the great contract he is on. Unless Timo is asking for stupid money he'll stay too. The next Sharks out the door will be Melker, Dell, and, if necessary, possibly Dillon.
