Numbers look good. Backs up what my Hawks friends were saying. Is he a scorer at all? If so, a line of him Bjugstad and Simon would probably blend really well together.

If we don’t piss away the cap space like we did when we dumped Hunwick this could turn out quite well. Gonna miss the hell out of Oli though. Chicago is a great town. Hope he enjoys himself over there!

Someone said EK is stating the Pens will be hard after Panarin, but I didn't see that. Not that it matters.

You guys will like Kahun. Creative. Speedy. Good vision. Can play center if needed. He played all over the line-up. Spent most of the first half of the year with Toews and Saad. For the most part will battle along the walls and wins his share. Played PP2 for much of the season. He is decent on his side of the ice. Not great but some of that could be his first season NA ice in a few years.

BTW. He only has one year left on his ELC. The 5th is a nothing. Maata doesn't move well enough for my liking but who knows. Maybe he can help a terrible PK by being too slow to get out of the way of pucks.

I actually think there is some truth to the Penguins looking at Panarin. The best way to get Malkin going for the last years of his career is to give him someone to play with. Had me thinking, has Malkin ever had a Russian on his line in Pittsburgh (Sergei Plotnikov DOES NOT count). I think Fedotenko is probably the closest. I have no idea what Panarin would cost salary wise, obviously a pretty big salary given his pedigree.
The only way it could work would be Rutherford trading Kessel or Hornqvist and Johnson or Gudbranson. No question a team like Florida could offer a better deal to him, but if the Penguins wanted to put a serious offer together, I'd bet he'd listen.

Also, with the Penguins being interested in Trouba, that tells me Rutherford isnt done with the defense. Moving Schultz out for Trouba? Dumping Gudbranson or Johnson? Don't know, but I've read multiple places that the Penguins have inquired about Trouba.

As of right now, if the Pens signed Blueger...

McCann-Sid-Jake
XXXX-Geno-Phil
XXXX-Bjug-Hornqvist
XXXX-Blueger-XXXX

You can basically rotate those X's with Rust, Kahun and Simon. Now, if they can move JJ with actually freeing up some salary the could make a nice signing to round things out.

One of the very few scenarios where I wouldn’t mind losing Phil if it made room for Artemi. Not gonna happen in a million years though.

I've been a pretty staunch supporter of JR's. I can't lie and say I'm not a little nervous about adding another mistake like JJ or Hunwick.

Seems like a solid beginning however.

If we're playing Fantasy Land right now, the Pens can theoretically do it and still keep Phil. It would be completely unrealistic, some sacrifice on depth and very tight, but it can be done.

Hawks fan here. JR took Bowman to the woodshed IMO.

Nice move for you guys.

Kahun was criminally underrated here. Was my pick to be most improved for next season.

Has all the tools to be a top-six winger.

Assuming Maatta is closer to the player he was last season rather than two years ago. But defense was obviously a need so I guess you’ve got to give to get. Bowman is a sucker for players under term.

Don’t even have to. All they gotta do is shed JJ and Horny or Rust and they should
Have 13m+ in the hopper I think.

Which Staal is he referring to? It would be par for the course if he meant Marc.

Considering Feds was Ukrainian and currently in a state of war with each other. Historically bitter enemies.....yeah Plots is the closest thing. But why does a generational talent need a fellow countrymen to play with?

I like this deal!!! Watching Kahun reminds me of exactly what McCann is. I think he can easily fit in on a 2nd or 3rd line for us. I probably only watched 15 or so hawks games this season but he always seemed to be noticeable in a good way. If we can somehow dump Johnson this is shaping up really good!

Let’s move Gudbranson instead of Rust please!
