That's absolutely believable. Why make a legit offer when you know there are few other buyers? For all we know they might be the only team on Phil's list making an offer.
I do agree that things can change pretty quickly once the big names are off the board in FA. - madmike71
The ONLY way I think a Kessel/AZ trade makes sense is if it's purely for futures so the Pens can free up cap space to sign a big name UFA. |

Wilson may not be anything more than one of those dreaded '4th line guys' we all know and love, but I will always appreciate the efforts he and Cullen (pretty much alone) put forth in that sorry excuse for a playoff series the Pens hardly managed against the Isles. They both scored goals (2 of the 6 TOTAL for the series, if I'm not mistaken) and he was banging guys... ala Bruins vs Blues... every time he was on the ice.
Not saying they're not replaceable, but give credit where credit is due. - Cousinskrid
Cool. He made a few hits and scored 1 goal in 4 games but was useless for the other 50. Gotta give credit for those 4 game sample sizes. Credit where credit is due. |

Garrett Wilson is awful. Dude could be replaced with a bag of pucks and make the same impacts. (frank) it just linenup cardboard Orpik at 4th line RW - j.boyd919
My bad... Cullen did NOT score in the series. But Guddy did!
Same type of player though, right? Bag of pucks maybe? |

The Pens logo is just great. What not to like? A skating penguin with a hockey stick is just too good.
I also like the Ducks original logo. - Barnaby36
I like the original 6 teams and Hawks are the best uniforms in all of sports IMO....Pens are a solid logo. So many trash logos in the NHL...Wild, Preds, TBL, Vegas, Avs, CBJ (3rd jersey is sweet), Yotes, IDK...more bad than good IMO. Id put Buffalo up there. |

Which is why I suggested 4th line RW would be a good target for a bad contract to trade JJ for. Actually saw Rask played some RW for Minnesota so I'd make that move. |

Players like Garrett Wilson are fine to have on your fourth line. The problem comes when you have THREE Garrett Wilson's on your fourth line. It's fine if the Pens have one guy like that just as long the other two players are quality.

Understood, but how do you acquire somebody better than a Wilson when you have no cap space, or very little? Oh yeah, I almost forgot... trade JJ. There should be many willing suitors. Or unless you look into what I've been preachin' all along.
Wilson played better than the superstars did during that series, maybe even Sid. At least he showed some spice. |

I thought Cullen was a far bigger problem than Wilson myself. Wilson was just a guy, didn't feel strongly about him either way. |

It’s gotta be ROR. the dude has been a stud all playoffs. - j.boyd919
I totally agree ROR was a stud all playoffs but binngers been winning playoff games since he was called up in January they dont make the playoffs without this kid. He looked like cocky Matt murray who could play 45 gms in a row |

Garrett Wilson could have been replaced internally with better options ie: Blueger, Johnson, etc. or replaced via free agency with better options. Around the 850k-1.5m range.
It actually has nothing to do with trading JJ, it’s about properly evaluating talent and acquiring players that fit the style of play your team is built for. |

Wilson is basically Kuhnackl. Those dime a dozen, easily replaceable players. I do agree that Cullen was a far bigger issue but having the a player like Wilson on a line with Cullen made it worse. The bigger problem was that entire 4th line was buried in their own zone all season. |

I didn't think he was THAT bad. Agree with everything else you said though. I do think just not bringing back Matt Cullen and his -8 relative corsi is the biggest move they can make, and that they can either find a better option than Wilson or just use that spot for a crap forward if they can find a team to take JJ. |

Honestly I’d prefer Kuhnackl over Wilson. Kuhn had a few seasons of around 15 points. 9 points in 36 games to Wilson’s 8 points in 50 this season.
I’d definitely rather have Kuhnackl than Wilson.
Also not opposed to using that spot to take on a bad salary for JJ like you’re suggesting. |

The one positive for Wilson is he had a positive effect on scoring and especially high danger chances despite getting pinned down. But that's about it. It's more I really can't stand Kuhnhackl. |

Kuhn is ridiculously vanilla when it comes to watching him haha the funny part is every now and again he’d bust out these silky moves and you’re just like wtf? Where are these all the time!? |

LOL, he would, but then the rest of the time he was Craig Adams where he'd deny the opposing defensman a clear shot and that's about it. |
