Frolik and Brodie For....
Probably nothing good, considering that's $9 million on two veteran depth pieces. |

Would be nice to move up in the first round a bit to get Brink or Kaliyev. I don't think those guys drop to 26 but a fella can hope. |

They will be dealt separately for sure, and the return will be decent I think |

Bingo i'm trying to decipher weather you're a Flames troll or simply uninformed.
You consistently have said the return for Brodie wont be much but yet you have a high price tag on Faulk?
If you compare their numbers you will see they are amazingly similar:
TJ Brodie GP 79, G 9, AST 25, PTS 34, TOI/GP 21:28, PTS/LAST 5 YRS 188
Faulk GP 82,G 11, AST 24, PTS 35, TOI/GM 22:25, PTS/LAST 5 YEARS 189
Brodie 2019/20 cap hit 4.65/mm
Faulk 2019/20 cap hit 4.83/mm

I don't think Faulk is going to fetch a high price. it's a pipe dream. I don't really like Justin Faulk at all, in fact.
I would say what Faulk has going for him vs Brodie, though, is that he's a couple years younger and has scored almost twice as many goals as Brodie in 10 fewer games. Brodie, though, is a much more consistent player. |

Fair enough.
I think Brodie will fetch a high 2nd round pick or I could see the flames packaging him with pick 26 to move into the top 10 - 15. |

It better be Brodie who's dealt and not Hamonic. The only question is what can BT get for him? Frolik won't be worth as much. |

I could see it. I'm thinking it's more likely you guys swing a deal with a team like Buffalo who could use some affordable defense.
Maybe for an Alex Nylander type +something? |

I don't know if the Lightning would have interest in Brodie or not, but I think they are a team we should be working on trying to pry some guys from.
I'd like to see us go after someone like Palat. They have some interesting pieces and I could see them shedding some forward $$$ & bolstering their blueline to be better prepared for a run next year.
Palat
Johnson
Cirelli
Gourde
Miller
I think Palat would fit in really well and make us more of a threat night in night out. |

I've looked at them too trying to find a new home for one of our RHD. They've got some attractive pieces and need cap help. |

Here's where you are way off. The fact that these guys have only 1 year left can mean different things to different teams. To a team like the Leafs it could be a bandaid replacement for Gardiner. To teams like the Canadiens or Rangers or even Arizona, he fills a need, gives them time to extend him & both Frolik & Brodie will be coveted valuable rental pieces to contenders at the TDL. Both of these guys almost have more value at the TDL than they do now ironically. |

Yeah, at the deadline will likely be a better time to try and move them. You'll get some nice pieces then, especially if Frolik bounces back. |

Well, I did have a bit of a bonr for A.Nylander in his draft year (I underestimated Vancouver's incompetence when they gifted us Matty T :D)
If that shot ever fully translates to the NHL

The Flames will be gearing up for a Cup run at the deadline. Would be pretty silly to trade them then. |

hmm you may want to make sure you have a goalie before you go ahead and start that kind of talk.
Like, I know you guys had a hell of a season, but you also got knocked out of the 1st round in 5 games, and didn't make the playoffs the year before that. |

I was looking at Boston's roster and after next year the only defenseman they have under contract is John Moore. McAvoy will be signed to a huge contract this summer along with Carlo but they maybe a good trading partner for the Flames. They have a few young guys that are or about to be RFA's over the next year.
Hows about a trade of:
Brodie
for
2020 2nd round pick
RW Zach Senyshyn
Or
Brodie
for
2020 2nd round pick
C/RW Jakob Forsbacka Karlsson
LW/RW Peter Cehlárik

They didn't need a goalie last year, and no one else in the division is a threat. |

Unless they get garbage offers they will both go at the draft next week or soon thereafter.
99% of team rebuilding is done in the summer when they all configure their cap and rosters for the upcoming season.
Also BT has work to do on our roster and he needs the cap savings achieved by moving these 2 out. |

Exactly why we dont have the luxury of holding on to these guys until the TDL. It's BT's job to max out their values. |

Every team will be making significant change this summer and the good news is Brodie and Frolik are good NHL players and have value.
We have the luxury of replacing both guys with good, affordable in house options (Vali, Dube). |

Maybe, but it could go into July for a couple of reasons. The big D fish like Karlsson & Trouba will be settled. The other thing is after July 1 both Brodie & Hamonic can get extensions done then which may be important to someone like Dubas or Bergervin if we are extorting a higher price/return. Everyone would love to get another 2019 pick but 2020 picks are just as good.
