Nah, can’t find a post where I say I want him.

And if they let eberle walk who do they replace him with thats a significant upgrade? Panarin will have every team at his door and duchene as well. Dizingle is good but similar in production. I can see eberle resigned and leddy moved for a second line type of player
- Upstate_isles

It's a risk no question but playing it safe got the Isles nowhere and I know it was Garth and Cappy. I think Leddy can be moved to a 2nd line player. Isles have to make a full court press on Panarin and Lou needs other viable options if he fails on Panarin. Isles had everything break their way with some top teams losing in the playoffs. It will be much tougher this year and teams that struggled this year can bounce back. If the Isles bring back pretty much the same team and Barry gets them to the Eastern Conference finals, he might need a new wing in the Hall.

Hmmmm ok then

Mean while Lee and Eberle haven’t even signed yet

You can scratch Panarin off the list if we can’t even keep 2/3 of our first line

If we swung and missed on any and all the FA’s which seems to be the new, popular thought on here lately I would’ve been ok with Skinner but I don’t think he’s a 9 million dollar player imo. I would like to see improvement with the roster not seeing any personnel improvement and accepting the status quo echoes of the past regime. I understand everyone’s opinion on this but I think it would suck to not improve on last season and I’m not sure keeping the current roster intact facilitates that.

I really want Lee back but I hope he is not looking for 9 or 8 mill. I also would have been fine with Skinner if we missed on Panarin. I'm very surprised more on this board are so keen on locking up Eberle. It's all good though. Great discussion tonight and have a good one everyone.

That skinner deal pushes Lee's numbers up near 7 million I would think

If the Isles bring back their team and sign Duchene or Panarin and maybe use Leddy in a trade for another top 6 now your making progress and adding.
Exactly the opposite of what Garth did.
When Barry was in Washington he worked the d and then in the final years added offense he didn’t trade his top 6 or let them walk he added to them. Yoshie comes to mind.

When we were discussing his salary in January I thought he was a lock to make that. He still may make that but at this point and after the playoffs I don’t feel as good giving it to him god forbid more. Kind of a crappy situation because his agent knows we don’t want to lose another captain.

Duchene or Panarin and trading Laddy for another top 6 is what I'm talking about. This is a fine offseason and nothing like Garth. These are the moves I'm talking about. I'm not talking about adding an all-star at each position and replacing every player.

I agree Cpt as much as it would be lousy to lose another Captain. These are the decisions Lou was brought in to make. It's tough business and not computer hockey.

Correct so keep your core guys who are here Eberle being one of them imho and add to them. Why let Eberle walk for nothing? Which is what you have been saying daily.

Very tough to keep and then add some big pieces. If Isles can move Bailey I'm onboard if it is Nelson Eberle and a traded for wing for the 2nd line.

Bailey isnt going anywhere, most people hate him but Trotz talked about how smart and good he was and how he never really knew it before. With Lee and eberle up in the air bailey is a lock to stay

Manage the cap. Other teams do it

If you want to build a cup contender or yearly PO team you gonna go up against the cap. No way around it. Everyone wants to get paid. Nature of the beast.

With possible extensions looming for Teows/Pulock/Barzal, it would be difficult to resign most players plus trying to add on. Beisdes Ebs/Lee/Lehner and extensions for some kids, does the team even have enough cap space to fit all plus FA's?

I do believe Bellows & Wahlstrom will be up w/big club in 2yrs, maybe even late next year.
