Skinner is not one of best players in the nhl. He does step it up in the playoffs though..

Best goal scorers last 3 years, not best player but he can bury the biscuit. Good contract for the 1st 4-5 years.

Avg less then 10g 5v5 and it gets you $7m in other towns.

I think Skinner would not have gotten more than 9 AAV anywhere else and the city loves him. I think this is a turning point for the sabers who are amassing good prospects for the future and now Skinner whom the sabers can build around.

he is a troll, I have learned to ignore him

skinner has more 5 on 5 goals then any winger in the NHL the past 3 seasons

so if 5 on 5 goals matter, it's about right given inflation

He is Top 5 in the league over past 5 years in scoring Game-winning and Game-tying goals.
those goals mean a hell of alot more than scoring a hatty in a 9-1 game.

It's called be a gamer.

But, go on.

It’s insane in the manner that all UFAs get insane money, but makes complete sense.

Skinner isn’t a very sexy player but you can’t argue with production. The only knock is how streaky he’s been; but every player has their warts. I’d sure as poop take him on my team.

Come on, this contract is so bad. Career high 63 points. 63. And he gets $9M per until he’s in his late 30s

In a couple of years, this will be viewed in the same way we currently see Lucic’s contract, Bobby Ryan’s, Dustin Brown’s, etc

It might not even take a couple of years, actually...

I expect him to average around 33ish goals over the next 5 years with Eichel. There will be some ups and downs and injury in there, but 5-on-5 goalscoring is expensive, and the sabres did what they had to

Would a team give him 10.25m in FA? Because thats what a seven year deal would have to give to match the value. Not to sure about that.

This exclusive 8th year hasnt really given teams as much of an advantage as is was suppose to do.

Oh, Tanner, it's sweet that they keep you around for either comic relief or for diversity hiring for the mentally challenged. I am not sure which one, so I won't be too insulting, because I am pretty sure it's the latter. You did say, "Yeah, the last couple years will probably suck, but Buffalo looks like a 95% chance to win a Cup before then, so who cares?" I guess that means they will be the team that ends the Coyotes chance to win their 4th consecutive cup in a few years? Can't wait to see this unfold!

Not sure about Stanley Cup's, but having Rasmus Dahlin pretty much guarantees the swords being in the conversation in the next year or two

kinda glad Skinner stayed but we will see about the "turning point". Constant disappointment can really sour a fan base.

He is 27. It is an eight year contract. He will be 35 when the contract expires. How do you figure he gets $9M per year in his late 30's?

Fair contract.

Skinner will never have to worry about another concussion and Buffalo retain a great skater and goal scorer.

Lot of people talking pts, goals are actually bigger then pts.
Skinner can score...

Maybe its high but you gotta do what you gotta do.
If he had of walked for nothing, that would be worse then his high contract imo.

And I'm not a Buffalo fan.
