Don't think Vegas is trading Hague after dealing Brannstrom last year, unless you overpay

Oh yea. Tall order for sure and I don’t think it would happen.

It was just something I’d like to see - sort of a wishlist thing. Haha.

Totally agreed. There looks to be a lot of potential with him.

Love his game.

I'm glad to see that your're talking about addressing the Panthers need for defense as they are very good offensively. Trading for a D prospect would be great in 2/3 years but they should look at moving one or two of their good offensive players, prospects or draft choices to get more immediate help. You have a great GM and coach who will correct any problems soon.

The benefit I see to trading a pick for panarin, (besides getting him to sign before another team throws an incredibly ridiculous offer at him) would be to get him signed before the draft. Might be offers made/trades available to shore up the D that wouldn't be doable from FL's view if Panarin is still only a "maybe".

If they trade for him they can give him an 8 year contract and assure that he signs . If they don’t Panarin can sign anywhere and the Jackets can offer him an 8 year . Basically Florida would then be forced to put a higher cap hit out there for seven to complicate for the extra year he could get in Columbus as well as other teams pushing the same envelope .

Not true.
Panarin was on the Columbus roster at the trading deadline this past season. Therefore the Blue Jackets are the ONLY team that can offer him the 8th year. Trading for his rights today only gives you an exclusive negotiating window for approx. another 2 weeks...

Oh yea, man. The defense is the key area IMO.

We need a shut down d man to put in the top 4. Niklas Hjarmalsson would be at the top of my wish list. He would pair perfectly with Matheson or ekblad. He would give them more freedom to attack offensively and would cover up their mistakes. Plus adding a little more experience from a guy who’s done it before will help out significantly on the back end. Not to mention he knows coach Q’s system and will be able to help out with the learning curve for the other guys.

Side note praying we draft Spencer Knight. He will be our goalie of the future and can take over for bob if we do sign him. It’s about time we take a chance on a goalie in the draft. And Spencer Knight seems to be a sure thing.

Hammer would be great for the stay-at-home and defensive-minded guy that's missing on this squads backend - but he's getting up there in age and I think has had some injury issues in AZ; but would still totally dig him on Florida, haha.

I find the whole Knight thing interesting...what about Monty? I think he's the next guy in line at this point, don't you? He looked good in a number of the starts he had towards the end of the season.

In the past 6 years his GP is (81,82,81,74,48,82) with last year him playing all 82. I would say that’s pretty reliable. Also imo I think we can use more veterans on our blue line. Aside from yandle what’s the average years in the league with our other d men? Like 3 yrs?

I do like Monty I think he’s a solid goalie who if we do decide is our future I’m sure will do a good job while playing here. I look at him like markstrom kind of. Solid goalie, but not an elite goalie. Spencer Knight is said to be the best goalie coming out since fleury. If that’s the case I’d say take a shot at him. We need that superstar goalie.

I'm not as enthusiastic as everyone else on Monty. When you have a "cap team" as we're told we will, that means things must happen, and now. That was also the sign to me when they hired Q. I'm not putting a team with tons of expectation and with the upcoming moves anticipated on the back of this kid who did marginal in Springfield, and a little better than "OK" in Sunrise. Get Bobrovsky.

Exactly! Thats what I was saying in my original post. Get Bob and draft knight. By the end of Bobs contract knight will be more than ready to step in and take over. That will stop us from running into the same problem we have right now with Bobby Lu. We wont have to go out and over pay another goalie in his 30’s for another 8years.
