Looks like hall wants to go. For the best get a propect in a trade, he will only get more injured and breakdown over the years.

Todd Cordell: Four potential targets from TSN's trade bait board

Rumor is that Zucker's asking price is insane, and what would we have to give up?

I can't overstate how risky Trouba is. Well documented contract disputes. He is a Moore 2.0. Physically one of the best, but that hockey IQ holds him back.

Subban produces, but that 9M contract scares everyone.

I really like the idea of targeting Colin Miller. We could offer Vats at 50% retained and maybe another cheap contract like Q to help their affordable depth. Severson/Miller would be a solid and cost effective RD side.

Going off the books now: how about we make a deal with Tampa that saves them 7.925 M cap space while providing the shut down 3C they need desperately!!!!

To NJD: Callahan and Johnson
To Tampa - Zajac with Devs 50% retained salary

This gives Hughes better support if he struggles starting as a 2C, and the option of having Johnson on the RW for the PP. Johnson repeatedly puts up 45+ points as a bottom 6 player.

Joke's on you. Looks like Larsson wants to stay. And he continues to focus on shooting, not skating.

Zucker's asking price can't be that high seeing that he was almost traded for Phil Kessel and Jack Johnson...

The Wild have made awful trade after awful trade so if Zucker is traded it's not going to look good for them.

My take on the Hall wants out rumor, if they don't start winning (and looking like a contender) this year, he will want out.
I've believed this from day one that he went to NJ.

If they start to look real good, I believe he would want to stay.

I love watching Hall play. It will be depressing if he leaves, but we've seen this scenario play out far too often, most painfully with Parise. If Hall isn't signed by the start of the season, you start kicking the tires on a move. Look to move him for maximum asset around the new year, prior to the trade deadline. You have to hope Nico takes another step, Hughes becomes the player he is hyped to be and, maybe get lucky with a Calder caliber season from Ty Smith. Start building around that youthful core, and any return you can get on Hall.

You just can't let him go for nothing.

Just my $0.02.

I still think the Parise situation was different. If I remember correctly, Lou never engaged in talks until his contract was up, and by that time Parise was so close to UFA that he chose to wait a couple days and listen to all offers. Call me crazy, but to date Shero already appears more proactive.

I really like the idea of Subban. Character guy with some grit and who can play physical--all three things the Devils need. Not to mention he can log big minutes and play the PP. For a team with tons of cap space, and for only 3 more years on his deal, I think it makes a ton of sense. And presuming there aren't too many suitors for his contract, I imagine the price will be manageable. I could see Vatanen being involved as he's also a RHD, would be a cap savings 4+mil, and isn't a long term financial commitment.

I'm hoping this is just a punctuation oversight, but are you implying Moore was "physically one of the best?" You can't be....right?

Thanks for the advice on how to handle Hall. Maybe you want to be our GM?

The situation has the ability to be exactly the same. Contract negotiations aside, we held onto Parise on until the last day of June, and by the 4th of July he was off to Minny, and we had nothing to show for it.

Lou was in constant negotiations with the Parise camp, and Zach & his agent said all the right things. The Hall situation will likely follow the same course. If he signs, great. If he just keeps talking about "weighing his options, but really loving it in NJ" we can't risk him skating away with no return. In today's NHL, losing your top asset with no return is a quick way to stall a rebuild or end up in one.

Shero's not the kind of GM that lets pending UFAs walk for nothing if they're Hall's value (see Jordan Staal situation in Pittsburgh). There's going to be a lot of discussion in the next month between the two camps, but if Shero can't come up with anything, he will look at all his options. I'm not as concerned with Hall leaving as I was with Parise because I knew Lou liked to let his players go to free agency. NJ shed high valued UFAs way too often to be proud of in this century.

I think NJ might target a D that's not on anyone's radar. Zucker's not coming here, Subban would be something of a fit, but I doubt it (overrated IMO), Trouba I also doubt (both would probably cost Ty Smith and another past first to acquire), and Miller is probably a touch too old for Ray's liking if he's moving some of his picks.

eh. Is Zucker worth the roster spot over a Boqvist, Zacha, etc? He's a proven mid-6 guy.. really a 3rd line winger imo. meh.

yes, he is very much worth it. He is Palmieri 2.0 and might be able to be had at a steal because the Wild are just dumping their players are random because they can't make the playoffs with their over-aged core of untradable contracts.

I think he's an upgrade over Zacha based off of body of work to date. I also think his speed plays into what Hynes covets. But I agree I wouldn't empty the bank for him. But knowing Shero, it wouldn't be a summer of dealing if he didn't move a 2nd round pick in a deal.

A guy the Devils should be looking is Collin Miller. He's signed to a decent cap hit and can really shoot the puck. I'm not totally sure he's available though.
