Does anyone know when the league will release the exact salary cap figures for the 2019-2020 season? I wonder if some teams are waiting on this news as it could make the difference between trading or signing a player to an extension

Well we havent played hockey in 33 days which should be enough for management to do their due diligence for every possible outcome.

That's how it is every year. I'm not saying it wouldn't be nice to find out earlier, you're right it sucks, but there is no way around it.

In order to know the cap, the league needs to meet with the NHLPA and find out if they are using the escalator clause. In order to decide if they are using the clause, the NHLPA has to vote. In order to vote, players want/deserve to know how much of their escrow they are getting back this year and what the cap is without the escalator. In order to tell them either of those things, the league needs final figures on how much they made this year. In order to know how much they made this year, league needs receipts from all the games. With the games potentially not even finishing until June 12, it's actually pretty impressive the NHL & NHLPA manage to get everything done to set a cap in the week between games ending and the draft starting.

Yeah I dont disagree im just eager to start seeing RFA picture (most importantly Point) start to come into focus. Feels like to me the longer we wait to do anything the more we paint ourselves into a corner. Starting to assume its gonna be a trade or something going down at the draft...

The Habs play a more exciting brand of hockey than the teams left standing. All the upsets in the 1st round coincidentally ruined the playoffs that compounded with the horse poop officiating, non calls, etc. Makes it unwatchable
