I think the longer it goes the more it favors Canucks. Maybe it is Jim playing hardball?
- VANTEL

Sticking point is the 3rd year my guess.
I don’t have any problem with a 2yr NTC.

Yeah . I wouldn't add more than the 2020 first. They have no cap space I don't want to help their cause.

I would be more of a vulture than good samaritan

- VANTEL

Cap control & play to win in the Pros.
JB’s turn to be ruthless if he can find it.

I will add this before I go out swimming.

I agree with a lot of what Carol posted.

Tanevs trade value will probably be so low why not hang on to him until TDL . We are not in cap problems.

Sutter when healthy adds stability hang on until his stock rises.

Sven get whatever production you can get out of him. Two years remaining.

Eriksson good grief I hate him but don't do something stupid to move him that will cost.

Spooner and Schaller one more year.

They are moving the trash out but it takes time.

- VANTEL

I agree we can ride it out & wait for gifts.

I can see that, but sometimes shortcuts win races

Just be careful you don’t take the wrong turn and end up back where you started.

Every contract on this team next year will be a Benning one

okay “on the roster”

The “but Gillis” excuse for Benning gets weaker with each passing month

I’m one who puts most or all of it at MG’s feet but yes JB has made his mark & it’s his team now. Next year is sink or swim for him.

There's a huge difference between "being a tankist" perennially and wanting your team to not add any "get better now" guys when you have a bottom 5 roster anyways, especially when moving valuable assets is involved.

What tune will the tankists sing next year?

I don't see you as a Tankist. Tankists love losing. Getting better now is an art & difficult at that. Trading valuable assets hasn’t been JB’s MO of late. Not worried.

Yes

Edit - here’s why: no way you could trade, for example, this year’s 1st for Nylander straight up. No team is going to trade an established 60 point player for a “maybe”. So it would be 10 plus+. A trade like this would set the Canucks back a year or two. They might be marginally better next season, but in two or three years when they start getting good again there will be another void in the prospect pool, like what Benning inherited.

- 1970vintage

But that's all i'm really proposing, therefore I take it you think it's a good trade. As for the organizational hole, it's not like we don't have them from missed draft picks.

If you don't think he's a good hockey player, then say it. This "man we might miss out" crap, is exactly that. Crap.

Many of the best players in franchise history have arrived via trade. Often we've drafted a good player, only to have a better one taken afterwards.

Why do you have to wait 2-3 years for your team to be good again, if they can get on that path now then continue to draft and develop.

JB stated it’s 3 parts being drafting, trading & UFA’s. Time he uses the cap wisely. Imo no additions that are not longterm help.

I guess if you could free Willie for a single draft pick, it would be worthwhile. But I don’t think you could, so.

I was okay with him getting fired but was initially a big fan(Just like 90%+ of this fanbase was)

But unlike the beta Benning fans, I refuse to keep lowering the bar and keeping giving Elmer a pat on the head for mediocrity.

I swear I think some fans/media just feel bad for him because of his innocent lost puppy persona.

No, Tankists recognize that the team is already bad, and want them to embrace what they are and do their best to improve their future by adding additional draft picks and/or prospects so that as the team naturally improves it has a lot of players to choose from.

See, I think this is normal. I don't consider myself a tankist.
