I would be on board with that move for say 3 years at 13 - 14 MM. |

Certainly an option but deep inside I would like to see Flames give BSD a chance to take next year & run. In fact if we can get BSD to resign a 3 year deal at just under 3.0 per, then find a cheaper young proven NHL ready option to back him up. I know some think Gilles will step it up, Im not so sure & would love to be proven wrong.
Also, if you give Varlamov 4.5 per & BSD gets at least 2.5 per, thats 7.0mill at the goaltending position I dont think we have or need to spend at that position. Just have a good gut feeling about BSD. Maybe news leaking that Flames talking to Varlamov is a negotiating ploy to get BSD down from asking goofy Koskinen type of numbers. Who knows. |

Just sign Bobrovsky. Mediocre goalies on the wrong side of 30 haven't been cutting it and Rittich has not come close to showing he can be a starter. Pretty much all the good young backups have had major struggles when given the starting job, Talbot, Darling, Jones, Allen, even Grubauer ran extremely hot and cold last year. And Rittich isn't yet on their level when they got their jobs. |

In a perfect world we convince Bob to come to Calgary.
Problem is he will not come to Canada. Bryan Burke was on 960 the other day and said he will not play for a Canadian team unfortunately.

I would have no problem bringing in Talbot as a 1B & let him & BSD fight for starts. Talbot & Ritter would be pretty close in $$$ give them both 3 year deals @ 3.0 each & call it a day. Both are capable of getting hot. |

Idk why you would give Talbot any more than a 1 year deal |

I wouldn't mind that. Wouldn't be the first player to turn it around after leaving Edm. He'd probably take a short term contract to get his career back on track. |

That’d be great if he’d go to Calgary. He won’t, though so they have to resort to signing a mediocre goalie on the wrong side of 30. |

If we want a chance to sign him it will probably take a 3 year term so we can keep the $$$ value lower. |

It's just baseless speculation that he won't sign in Canada. I realize it's not likely, especially if no tax Florida is willing to pay him whatever he wants, but Treliving should be making every reasonable effort to sign him. |

At what cap hit?
I bet Bob would want Carey Price money to come to Calgary and that's a deal breaker IMO. |

If we can get Varlamov at a decent cap hit than I'd be alright with it. Ideally we'd be getting Bobrovsky but he probably wants way too much money and I don't think that is very likely.
Honestly, why not give Rittich a shot at being a true #1? Bring in a capable veteran backup to help him out and see if he can run with it? He was excellent for most of the season, why not give him a chance? |

He's had opportunities in both of the last two seasons the be the undisputed number one and struggled both times. The Flames have the team to win the Cup right now and can't risk it all on Rittich. They at least need to resign Smith or bring in someone like Varlamov in case Rittich can't handle being a number one.

this is the goalie you need
he makes 792K this coming season and is already as good as Varlamov
just check how he has been doing in the worlds
He's on his way to having hell of a career

no, Lundqvist still has two more seasons with a NMC and they have brought Shestyrokin over
Georgiev is trade bait at this point |

I would have thought Lundqvist’s role would slowly be reduced, but I guess you’re banking on Shestyrokin being bale to jump in. If Georgiev is available he’d be a good option, Leafs should grab him so he won’t be able to stone them anymore... |

I thought the Flames should've taken a shot on Lehner last year, and he's probably a guy they could get away with paying too much money.
He was always a really good goalie in Buffalo, just couldn't handle having the carry a garbage fire on his back. |
