J D is coming home , and like any new man coming in with BIG expectations ,he will
deliver immediately ,signing Panarin sounds like a start
BUT i sense an immediate set of moves & plans to get rid of the last salary deals like Shatty ,Smith, Namestikov and trade out for the pieces needed to build the top team
with possibly Krieds ,Pionk ,L ANdersen ,and some picks & prospects to acquire
F A Panarin as said & Karlsson
along with trade for a top center , and Right D man ...I E Trouba

they didnt hire J D to be a stooge , he is regarded in NHL & will finish what Gorts
has started with Slats ...

ok, look at Tampa Bay's current roster, and explain to me with everything they got going on why they would be interested in trading Cernak, who makes 697K and already plays well over 20 minutes a game?

I also don't see the point in giving up assets to fix an already jammed up defense. The issue isn't getting people to fill roles, it's getting rid of players to let others take the next step.

Claesson and...Staal are the "shut down" guys on this team right now. Pray they do a half decent job.

Patience should be the new mantra of the org.

Sign me up for Lavoie at 20 I just happened to be watching NHL network and the game on is Guelph vs. Halifax. He is easily and by far the best player out there, total domination

Suck it Burton

Pieterangelo, Schwartz, Tarasenko and Parayko all drafted during his tenure and all major parts of Blues run right now
- jimbro83

And with Taransenko, JD was the only one with the balls to take him. He dropped because of fear he’d remain in Russia. I was pissed we passed on him.

at the time I was pissed we didn't take Fowler, not going to pretend I was that familiar with Tarasenko at the time

Hopefully the Kravstov pick turns into our version of the Blues taking Tarasenko

Yeah, Tarasenko looks really bad in retrospect given who we picked, but even then drafting Russians was a gigantic unknown. While the team deserves blame, I don't go as hard on them for that reason. Even now, look how long it took Shesty to come over. It's a tragedy that we will never know, but we really never would have known how long it would have taken Cherapnov to come over.

I think will the KHL showing some big problems, the Russian questions aren't going to be quite as big in the future, but back then it was a legitimate concern.

KHL has always had issues though, I think the Russians just love playing at home and who can really blame them.

It's like, if a kid from Toronto wants to play for Toronto, it's no big deal.

I wonder if lipstick girl feels that way?

Yeah, I'm sure they do like playing at home. KHL seems to be springing more leaks. Their ill fated move to try to expand over Europe and Asia really has bit them. Ska is never going bankrupt, but lots of the lower tier guys are.

That was different because that kid was not just the team's captain, but the fans' captain.

They've been springing leaks forever, teams have been either not paying players on time or not paying them in full for probably a decade. It is what it is, a league that features two prominent teams, a small handful of second-tier teams, and the rest are just cannon-fodder

Has any talk of that league folding ever happen?

It does seem less of factor as the years go on, really since Jagr and Kovy left

Would be something if Podkolzin fell and the Rangers swooped in and grabbed in
