I get that the pens need to start restocking the cupboards, but Kessel is a total bargain. Makes less the JVR or Nylander, consistently produces no matter what team you put him on or who you play him with and barely gets injured. On top of that, he's excellent in the playoffs.

Ultimately, he's just the low man on the totem pole I guess. You're not trading Crosby, Malkin, or Letang, so he's the next one up.

I've lobbied here for the Pens to look at core pieces (much to my own demise, LOL) and keep Kessel. No, NOT Sid, but any of the other ones should at least be explored for potential returns. Phil (and his hot dog habit) have become fan favorites, and I think he likes it here in the burgh.

Im not entirely sure but I think you might have suggested that (with some editing) the most money might be ON Ottawa getting Skinner? ---no-- the only thing you had right in that line was that Spezza has expressed interest in returning to Ottawa. So having Jason's name and Canada's capital in the same sentence was somewhat accurate albeit widely reported early yesterday and suspected long before the report.

To me, Sid and Geno should both be considered untouchable. Neither would have won 3 Cups without the other. They should be given equal respect to remain and retire as Penguins. They've BOTH earned it.

After that, I think the Pens should at least consider all trades, and what would be best for the organization. Me, personally, I would kick the tires on trading Letang. I think they'd get more for him than they would Kessel. Plus, I like Phil more. But that's just me. But honestly, the organization needs to STFU about trading Malkin. It's ridiculous.

Malkin = NMC
Kessel = 8 team trade list (we would pick division rivals and/or teams with no cap space)

Both are near unmovable even if the Pens wanted to trade one. Just stop with this đź—‘

That's pretty much the consensus on Geno, though I happen to disagree.

I'd gather there's at least a handful of desperate GMs in the NHL right now, so anything is possible, really. To think otherwise is short-sighted IMHO.

The Kings lazy environment adding Phil Kessel is an absolute disaster ready to happen.

So the Kings, crippled by an aging, expensive roster is "all about" a 31 yr old expensive winger with 200,000 miles on his treads...is that what you're saying?? Ok.

Kessels 6 team list:

Toronto (can’t be traded to since they are already retaining salary)
Washington (division rival ain’t happening)
Philadelphia (division rival ain’t happening)
Columbus (division rival ain’t happening)
NYR (division rival ain’t happening)
Boston (they don’t want him)

My point is essentially both Malkin and Kessel control their own destinies. The team can shop around all they want and we can hear all this chatter but nothing will happen unless the players want to go. It’s not up to GMJR.

Since he apparently told you what six teams he would accept a trade you might want to inform him that it's 8 teams

I'm not allowed to change my avatar after 4 years? After Ken Holland is gone? I never realized you were so devastated. My condolences.

Throw the knights (no cap room) and devils (another divisional rival) or islanders in there then. Same thing holds true.

We can hope and dream. Love to see Kessel and Kovy tear the ass out that organization.

Good luck in the finals! Hope to see Brad Marchand and Marcus Johannson hugging each other when they hoist the cup.

They did? With the silver spoons they brought over from Ireland in the 1700s?

Jets will get lowball offers on Trouba because he's a pending UFA. Jets are a Cup contender and it makes no sense to trade him for pennies on the dollar. Chevy if better off keeping him and going for the Cup next season and then let him walk.
