Does Patrick Maroon interest anybody to plug into the bottom six next year? I believe he is a UFA.

Probsbly correct. He sounds like he could be ready sooner than the usual amount of time. Rarely does a goaltender not spend some time in farm system and even two years for such a young kid is probably overly optimistic. Even C Price prepped for at least one year AHL if i recall correctly.

Tom Barasso went 5th overall and went to the NHL right from high school, Rick DiPietro went 1st overall to the Isles.

Maroon is from St. Louis, my guess he just resigns with them.

Maybe on a one year cap friendly deal. But if Maroon is willing to accept that he’ll stay in St Louis.

A couple years ago I thought Maroon would have been a great idea, but I think The Drake can fill that void now. Tanev is still my top choice for a UFA this summer, Boyle could work on a one year deal. Maybe Riley Sheahan or Joinas Donakoi.

As much as I like (Eddie) Tvetter's suggested 4th line, I think he stays in StL, too, his home & where his son is.

Love the game, hate the 3 remaining teams. In fact of all the teams in the tournament these are 3 of my 4 least favorite.

Least favorite or most favorite - and for reasons we all understand and (in many / most cases) can agree with - and I too hate Marchand, Chara, Rask and the the rest of the players in the Hub, not a fan of anything to do with Missouri (except for fond memories of the Braves), don’t care anything about San Jose....

It’s hockey - deep into the playoffs - with (excepting Boston and Carolina) great series, close exciting games, outstanding defense and goaltending, lots of energy in the buildings, Doc - hockey.

Have to watch.

Byram has no impact on Mitchell. One plays the right side. The other the left. If anything, it could be a positive impact. Maybe Mitchell see his future partner in Byram?

Mitchell has stated on more than one occasion is excited to be a part of the Hawks organization and fully intends to be a Hawk. He felt going back for another year was the best for his future.

- Elbows15

Logjam is alogjam Mitchells played both sides btw.

And Byram's weak on either side in his end.

I don't have the time to search for them, but remember all those Kevin Hayes interviews during and after the Hawk evaluation camps?

The big question for next year is who backs up C2?

Is it Delia? Do we expect Ward back? What other veterans might be available?

Ryan Miller anyone?

- Ogilthorpe2

Along that line of question:

And will the in fact sign Memorial Cup prospect Alex gravel? he is n to signed yet.

I think Anton Forsberg has upside, but I like where you are going...Crow insurance.

Mike Smith may be out with flames, and Colorado Russian wife beater is a UFA, but you have to wonder if they are gonna be looking for golden tickets based on being former starters...so you CAN WAIT and see IF they get no offers at the asking price, but WAITING gets you losing out too.

Brian Elliot and Michal Neuvirth gonna be cheaper, but with all these guys you have to weigh $$$ / where the hawks are in terms of GOING to the playoffs(nonetheless w/o and injury replacement you will get another surprise starter like Forsberg was suddenly;y the man capping the bed.

The similar concerns/ issue is the face off circle...Tazer goes down at what 56% who wins them???

So confidence back up tender and the dot to me are bigger than an extending shopping spree on others...

Then I hope its Byram. Turcotte is a better choice than Cozens. Cozens has Sam Bennett all over him to me.
- Elbows15

Sam Bennett WISHES he played junior and fast as responsible and as well as Cozens.

Bennett junior years were riddles by him taking son many bad penalties to be defensively responsible.

Cozens ranked strongest grip in both hands at the pre-testing prior to CHL prospects game.

and don't count out Dach, because even if he doesn't float as a first line centre (same critique I have seen on Turcotte...not me I think there is upside there as a first line scoring centre playermeake in Turcotte), Dach looks like a Wheeler to me...Sleepy, sudden swoop, EXCELLENT touch accurate passer.

Keep you options open, we have a month, Elbows!

I really hope the Hawks stay away from ANY high cost, long term signing. We have too many question marks at this time.
Net - Crawford's health...
Defense - In need of a couple of Top 4 guys
Forward - Another Top 6 guy. An upgrade in the bottom 6.

If a true STUD is out there and it makes sense, maybe. But, I would rather not throw big money at a contract that will put us back up against the Cap when we are still several tweaks away from truly contending.
Patience...it is difficult...but we will be much better off by exercising patience.

- hawk35

If CC is healthy and JT has the same type of year, we are NOT "several tweaks away" from contending IMO. 1 solid Dman, (trade) another true top 6 forward, (draft) and a faceoff winning/Pk performer (FA) would vault this team to it. They are as close to contending as they've been since 2015. The depth is there. THREE quality additions and it's then up to Colliton.

As soon as I heard Cozens compared to Kesler, I soured on him.
- Ogilthorpe2

I thought that was poor comparison.

I hope not, but it seems to be drifting toward that outcome.

C'mon man, he's only a sophomore this year.

You don't want all 4 breaking in at the same time anyway.

I'm thinking the dark horse might be the Finn named Kevin (can't really be his name can it?) Seems to be playing pretty well in the worlds.

Add to that Crawford will be a UFA at the end of the season. Interesting decision for the Blackhawks ahead.

Mitchell plays primarily on the right side. He played some on the left at the WJC but at Denver he plays on the right. Though, they do a fair amount of switching in their own zone.

Bennett is a #3 pick who will never live up to that draft slot and my opinion is neither will Cozens. Every time I watched Cozens, not many btw, there is something missing to me.
