Ben, good job.

I wouldn’t trade Leddy until I’m confident the youngsters can step up and play in the NHL.

Once that’s established in the next season, maybe season and a half I think it might make sense to trade him for a piece that moves us closer to the ultimate goal.

I think it depends on who they can sign as free agents. If they get some pop that way, he stays. If not they must trade him.

The longer he stays the less value he has, also trading from a position of strength for a position of weakness is ideal as the isles need scoring now more than d. Toews took over the top pp unit and is a very similar and younger version of leddy. I think leddy is expendable

I posted this on the last blog but I think spezza is a decent option at 3 c, hes not super fast but neither is filppula and he adds offense is a pp guy and is very good at draws. I think it makes sense but only to a 1 or 2 year deal which is what they will probably give filppula anyhow

Nice job Ben and it's an interesting question. Isles have to seriously consider trading Leddy and especially if they miss on big UFA's.

Ses I'd love panarin and it's a possibility but I think the rangers are the stronger draw with no arena issues and playing right in Manhattan. Getting kakko is sure as hell going to helpntheir appeal, I'm not enjoying him own the worlds right now hes gonna kill the isles for years I think

It is hard to bet against the Rangers. I think the Isles are the better team now and are in better shape with Lou and Barry going forward but players are obsessed with MSG and being in Manhattan. Funny it did not work for the Knicks these last number of years but it seems to work for hockey. Free agency is a tricky thing and more times than not, it does not work out well. Isles are still in good shape if they miss on Panarin. With the young dmen now and on the way, it will really take the pressure off the forwards.

Yes, and a d-man in the Islanders' system. Two guys with the same name, go figure. We all hoped he would NOT be called up in the series vs. the Canes due to the confusion.

Rangers have some serious young talent coming up along with a ton of picks one of which will be Hughes or kakko, they are very attractive I would think

Going to be interesting to see if they have the coach. Isles have the coach and serious D and possibly goalie if Sorokin is on the way next year.

Ladd is the mistake IK but spezza fills a need and is an upgrade to filppula at 3c. Not as good defensively but can score more.
