I was arguing with a few people about how the games of that Pens and Bruins series played out around here not too long ago. This article backs my side of it.

Pens were snake bit/Rask stood on his head. Pens controlled play for long periods of games but couldnt score. This made them sook and lose composure and honestly I think it was the last of their lose composure era.

Horny with 5 goals in 3 games at the WC....keep it up. Get some game back for the Pens our up your trade value. Either would be a win...

I think old man Troy pulled young Sidney aside after that series and minced no words in explaining the birds-and-the-bees version of hockey maturity to him.

And Sid has been an exemplary leader for his team and the entire league ever since.

I guess sometimes it's just better to stay shallow in the stats... and we need Horny back to the way he was. He's an incredible force when he's on his game.

Do you think people in Britain are playing hockey in the hope they get their horrible teeth knocked out with a puck or a stick?

Not a single mention about the Pens players in the world cup? How about our possible targets with the 21st pick? Thanks

All the Pens players at the WC suck. 21st pick will be a bust.

You're welcome.

His play came around well down the stretch even if he couldn't buy a goal. It would probably be better to move on from his contract, but I don't think it's something they're considering since he fits the culture and style of play they want. But hopefully he can at least score 20.

If he stays healthy he should be able to hit 10 5v5 and 10 peepers.

Currently Rask has a .944 all-situations save percentage against Carolina and he is getting a ton of credit for the Bruins success, as he should.

What is this "all situations" that you speak of? I thought that power plays are figments of your imagination and that only 5v5 matters.

Matt and I appear to be on the same page. Plenty of topics are relevant in the here and now and instead there was a very long GoT tangent that I couldn’t read through

Nah. Blueger, Simon and McCann are nice young players to have up and down the lineup.
Murray is above average and Hörnqvist would be a 1st line winger in Detroit.

Until my erection fades.

But really, if you're gonna discount PP stats and focus on 5v5 in most of your blogs, don't deviate. All I want is some consistency...like my erection.

I was looking at Malkin and Kessel's WOWY stats from the past 2 years. They have a PDO almost exactly even, over 70% offensive zone starts, and yet they score 50% or worse just about everywhere in possession, goals for, xgf, etc.

When they play apart, Malkin's numbers improve significantly and Phil's crater. They may score their share, but they aren't creating an advantage together they should with their talents and getting second defense pairings and heavily sheltered Ozone times. It's not because of bad luck because PDO was even and JJ can't be blamed for a 2 year trend where they play in opposite directions apart.

So what I'm saying is they should move on from Phil. They'll miss him on the PP where he is still a wizard, but can survive with Schultz or Jake on the top unit. But his on the rush style doesn't fit anymore and he isn't getting the results worth adjusting for.

At his advancing age, Malkin could use younger wings to help do the hard work. He had his best stretch the past two years with Hagelin, Rust, and Hornqvist as his wings. Get him a wing who can get 20g 50pt but maybe isn't a big PP scorer but excels in their down low style. If he wasn't the 3C Bjugstad might be the type. The likely cap savings can be used elsewhere.
