Nylander traders should stop and think about that the Sedins didn't break fifty points for five seasons. He got sixty in his rookie year. So just to be clear what I'm saying is, Nylander is better than Hank + Daniel to the power of McKinnon, multiplied by Forsberg + Sundin.

Wait til Burn gets a hold of this, twitter world will explode.

*everyones saying it*

There is a salary cap. They can only spend so much money and the Leafs have lots of good scoring wingers. He is better than most of them, but again, with a cap they simply can't afford him while the d sucks. It's not that people hate the guy, although he seems like a bit of a Richard, it is mostly dealing with the cap and balancing the roster that are the issues.

Salary cap is exactly why you keep Nylander.

That's what all the crappy players who played then called it at any rate.

It is. At the start of the deal, he's making 8.4% of the cap. By the last year, it's down to a projected 7%, which in terms of how it would feel by this year's standard is about $5.8m on a guy entering his real prime.

He's impressive. He's scored more than half of his team's goals.

Hughes has scored 0% of his team's goals.

Remember that year that we drafted Matthews and everyone was all like, "Laine's so much better!".

This is like that, except we can enjoy it this time.

Except that this time it's actually close. Unlike Matthews and Laine.

I'd probably still take Hughes 1st overall but man, it'd be hard to not take Kakko.

NYR got it easy in this.

When he fires up 70 plus points everyone will see the light.

I think you have to take the center first.. NJ will have a solid group now;
Hughes/Hischier/Zajac/Coleman

Even if he does, they will have a weak defence because they have no cap space.

Saw an interview with Hughes in a tee shirt. He’s really narrow across the shoulders. He looked like a 12 year old.

For sure. There's gonna be a lot of discussion on it, though.

Not gonna make the same mistake the Leafs did. They're gonna at least consider taking both guys.

I like Kakko better

Hughes reminds me of Patrick, and given the amount of hype Hughes has gotten the scouts say he’s more of a hischer pick than a Matthews pick.

And watching Kakko at the worlds makes me think he’s got the talent. We’ll see.

Good young talent coming up though. I think defense is where teams are going to be saving money. Gonna go younger and cheaper, those Subban and Weber like deals are obsolete.
