Jets have fired GM Mike Maccagnan and VP of Player Personnel Brian Heimerdinger, league sources told @jeffdarlington and me. Maccagnan had two years left on his contract.

I guess we don't see what the final product will be, but it's not like these guys have done anything of note. Just odd they would do this at this time.

I wish you would have invited me, I would have shown him some of the posts you made about him in the Isles blog

Gase wins the power struggle. This makes no sense at all.

There was rumblings a few weeks ago they weren’t getting along, but this is fairly shocking

Of course Fenrir makes his own candy. Next he is going to show us the hand pumped well on his property that he runs through a bamboo charcoal filter.

I was looking into a hand crank for the well for when we lose power, but ended up getting a generator.
My wife is a piece of work, every time she thinks we're going to lose power she takes two buckets down to the stream so she can flush the toilet. And yes, I've knocked down the outhouse since installing a crapper indoors.

Literally nobody has changed their opinion based on two good games by Kaako this week. If they did, they’re stupid. Come on people. We’re way past making judgments like this based on the IIHF Worlds instead of years of data.

It helps that Kaako is Finland’s first line star in this tournament, while Hughes is basically the 13th F due to USA’s roster depth.

This author, when he says “there is no question the gap has closed,” is doing something a lot of people do. When arguing an incorrect viewpoint, people just add stuff like “there’s no question.” But of course there’s a question. Just saying there’s no question doesn’t make it so.

The gap between Hughes and Kaako was never enormous but whatever you thought a month ago, you should think the same today. One or two tournaments don’t mean anything (and even if they did, didn’t Hughes just destroy a tournament like a week or two ago)?

It really wasn't that bad, but it was kind of a facepalm moment

He may have said "maybe next year" something like that, you get the idea though

YOu should be more impressed he knew wtf he was. I semi-watch golf at least during the majors, outside of the big names I wouldn't know who anyone else is. You could have told me Scott Mayfield is a landlord of some buildings in Queens, probably would have believed you.

My dad had no idea who he was, I recognized him and pointed him out. As far as the golf went, I don't recognize anyone who isn't a pretty big name on the tour. I'm not a huge golf guy, but am getting more into it as time goes by.

Thanks for the comments. The gap closing is from the winter until now. That may be a perceived gap but given the increased chatter on the possibility of Kakko will go first should be an clear indication that may feel the two are now interchangeable.

Yes, Hughes had a monster U18 tournament but that’s against a different talent base that the Worlds, which are ongoing now I am not advocating that a change should be made, especially given small sample size and points you made on usage and team structure. Just noting that there is movement along lines where some feel Kakko should go one. Listen to the Hockey News Podcast from Monday where they discuss this. I am far from the only one mentioning it.

They both hated the hire. They are the Vins of Jet fans I think it’s overreacting because Gase didn’t have any talent whatsoever there. Tannehill was simply terrible at being a QB. Darnold is going to be very good

Such a Jets move.

They were finally gaining some traction in competing ( locally ) with the Giants and now they do this. Dave Gettleman should send a bottle of champagne over for getting him out of the news.

I think Gase will be better because the timing of this young QB lines up with more when Tom eventually retires. The division is basically on lockdown until that happens and then the AFC East becomes wide open.

Honestly, if I'm the Jets I love being in the Giants shadow. This news honestly will be old news within a day or two. Gettleman won't be off the hook that easily.

I know it looks bad, but nowadays EVERYONE jumps to conclusions right away no matter what it is. I’d say give Gase a chance, he’s extremely confident, awfully cocky aswell, which I personally like lol

The timing is definitely strange tho, oofah
