Staal doesn't make a ton of money, but he regressed pretty good last year. I'm not sure we could trade for him because they would rightfully want alot for him
If they asked for the Peg 1st and something small would you guys do that? - 2sticks1puck
I am sorry you took this bait but I am trolling Jimbo with this one. I don't think any of us want a reunion tour with Staal. |

I'm not. I've seen the error of my ways. Teams can't win with players like Karlsson, Hughes and RNH. You need to slow the game down, get meaner and get tougher. So that is how I aee the Rangers needs going forward. More guts and will, less finesse skill. |

I do. He fill in perfectly behind Zib. Move Chytil down to 3 and Howden to 4. What he lacks in speed he brings in leadership. |

oh this is apparently all about being fearful of signing Karlsson long term because of his injury history, that apparently equates to people think he isn't skilled |

I completely agree with both sides of the Karlsson argument. I actually don't know where Tom stands on Karlsson but I am guessing he's a no because he wants a lottery pick from 2020. |

the main reason I get so annoyed at Tom is that he is smart enough about hockey to help make the discussions great but he is in the midst of full melt down mode for whatever reason and simply refuses to contribute anything normal right now
and this happened to him AFTER WINNING THE DAMN LOTTERY
something he's wanted forever |

He's not wrong though. Staal played hurt here and down in the lineup. If you think he can still be a 50 pt guy, he'd be a great 2nd line center while Chytil develops in a lower pressure environment. You might be able to get him for cheaper than RNH in a trade as well. My issue is that I think Staal becomes a 40 pt guy maybe next year. He would never be an albatross, but at some point he might not move the needle. |

No to Karlsson. Yes to Roman Polak. (Shattenkirk buyout, and Pionk trade conditional for Polak to sign.) |

Thank you. People think it's shctick. Having Chytil at the 3 gives you depth. Staal at the two ain't bad. He's shown he can still score. Plus the leadership. |

But Tom doesn't want Staal. He is slow and on the decline. Tom wants RNH and 8 ++ even if it means taking back Lucic because he wants them to stand pat on Free Agency and "tank" again next year.
I don't think that is going to happen since the NYR won the lottery this year and are primed to take an NHL ready player. They also appear to be heading towards being competitive nowish instead of being bad enough next year for a lottery pick in what looks to be a super strong draft class, at least significantly better than this one. |

He's missed 1 game in 3 years. While scoring 22 goals or more in each if those 3 years. Need the center depth. |
