The whole rail industry needs to come up with a way of dealing with these things. Too easy to disrupt service. A whole province is seriously impacted because a few idiots built a half-assed fence across a few rail lines.

What would be the affect of a well planned effort to disrupt? Like an attack of some sort.

Bad guy #1: we need to make bombs!

Bad guy #2: nah, all we need is a few milk creates and Canada’s (frank)ed.

They have pop-up tents, propane heaters and espresso machines on the tracks with someone doing Tim Horton's runs. Protesting in 2020!!

Poking around and found this...

In 2013, Wet’suwet’en First Nation received $886,959 from Pacific Trail Pipelines.
In 2014, Wet’suwet’en First Nation received $504,259 from Coastal Gaslink.
In 2015, Wet’suwet’en First Nation received $2,147,042 from Coastal Gaslink and $757,439 from Pacific Trail Pipelines.
In 2016, Wet’suwet’en First Nation received $59,109 from Coastal Gaslink and Wet’suwet’en First Nation received $33,560 from Pacific Trail Pipelines.
In 2017, Wet’suwet’en First Nation received $10,000 from Coastal Gaslink Pipelines and
In 2018, Wet’suwet’en First Nation received $13,000 from Coastal Gaslink Pipelines.

Pipeline payouts have been decreasing since 2013. Weird how it’s all about the environment now. Nothing to do with the decline in handouts. Frustrating.

Here on the island we have asians, south asians, red-heads and blonde, blue eyed protesters trying to shut down the colonial forces.

Giving ourselves 2 extra days (2 days of closing our business) to get to Vancouver next week to see a Neurosurgeon because of the protests.
The complete lack of leadership both federally and provincially is appalling.

Join me!

I'm putting together my protest manifesto then i'm heading off to Scandinavia to demand money for the atrocities in England from the 9th and 10th centuries. Once I'm done, I will head to Great Britain to determine which land I want to claim as mine since it was stolen.

I'm not hit yet. I think they're a little hesitant to lay off the transportation pool in the maritimes because once the blockade opens we're going to be busy as hell and they're afraid we'll take our time coming back to work as we're entitled to 14 days.

Hope it works out for you.
It would be nice to see some leadership in all of this, outside of the well organized protesters, of course.

I understand the desire for a peaceful resolution but i'm afraid of a price tag being attached to it. I'll get sick to my stomach if there's another huge payout unless something is signed that eliminates all future claims.

Well 3 weeks in and still no leadership coming out of Ottawa.

I will predict that a non confidence vote against Trudeau, and a major landslide victory for the Conservatives that will move in with the army if this doesn't end soon.

The problem with using force is that I fear it will lead to sabotage of the tracks which makes things very dangerous for everyone.

The sad thing about this whole situation is the Conservatives were in power in 2013, when the Wet''suwe run hereditary chiefs said no. The BC liberals were also in power at that time, 7 years ago.
If anyone is to blame it is those 2 groups for not trying to resolve the issues back then and maybe it wouldnt have escalated into what we have happening today.
It was a lack of leadership then and now some other groups have to try clean up the mess created.

I’m in a chatty mood tonight but I can’t generate a storm by myself. I work best feeding off other people’s misery. That’s why I spent most of my early years in the leaf thread.

(frank) they were miserable then. It was wonderful.

i thought i'd take a break for the regular season because the day to day bs (whether it's a winning or losing streak) becomes a bit too much.

read the thread this morning and did some back reading....

holy sh!t, fcuk covid 19, stupidity is even more contagious.

this is why you don't take political or medical advice from paul blart or a knuckle dragger who breathes fire.

If they miss the playoffs does Green and/or Benning get fired or will there be a cascade of excuses?

Green will go first for sure. I have no idea how secure JB is. Who knows what mood FA's in. He's involved in a lot of other things now. Bigger than the canucks. Maybe he'll just keep JB in charge because it's easier.

I've read this like 10 times and just figured it out who was the blart and fire breather.

I'm getting (frank)ing dumber by the minute. You're right, it is more contagious.

the season's not over but my thoughts are...

the season went a little better than i thought it would. i don't think that they're as bad as their recent slide has shown.

i think they're a playoff team but i don't see them developing into contenders with their current front office (from coaching staff to management team)... which means that my take hasn't really changed.

benning has built a team with some quality pieces but he's not the guy to take it to contender level.

he manages on a year to year basis meaning that finishing as best the team can for any given season is his (only or if you want to be kind primary) objective. he signs players that he thinks will help right away and his contracts/trades have borne that out. they are serviceable to good for the first year or two and then their contracts or what was given up in trade look really bad.

the team has a cap issue. the cap has been badly mismanaged by this regime and at a time when the cap should be favourable (best players are on their first or second contracts), it's a negative for the team.

rather than planning the cap around when their real players (ep, bb, qh) will be ready to really compete (which is usually 3-5 years into their careers), benning has planned around the current season (this year, last year, the year before etc.)

the chickens will come home to roost meaning that the team has an artificial ceiling created by mismanagement (from trades to signings).

sure, they'll compete for the playoffs and even make it (perhaps as early as this season) but how many of you have faith that they're going to turn into contenders under this regime? not me. they are playoff bubble team which is another way of saying that they'll be 1st and/or 2nd round opponents of the real cup contenders.

the problem with being a playoff bubble team? there's just enough hope for the homers to drink the kool-aid.
