As long as they avoid rushing him to the NHL it should be all good. - Reveen.

I would 100% be open to moving Klefbom because I dont see him being able to play a full season... I would not move Nurse at this point because he seems to just be scratching the surface of the player he could become.
Nurse-Larsson
Sekera-Russell
Jones/Gravel/Byram-Benning/Persson/Bouchard
This D core isn't looking like the best and some more moves would need to be made imo. Ideally Russell would be moved out and we would be able to get a top 4 right handed defender via trade or free agency. - Lemmewinks
I can agree. The D corps would likely look weak for one more season, but then it'd take off.
Nurse- Larsson
Sekera- Gudas
Jones- Benning
Gravel
It frees up the 4mil from Klefbom's contract (even though that's far from a burden) to be put towards wingers for the top-6. In conjunction with a Russell trade and something being done with Lucic, that could end up being a total of around 9-10mil at the end of the day (1-1.5mil retained on Russell, 1.5-2mil retained on Lucic). With our existing 8.4mil available and the additional bump in cap ceiling (~2-3mil), we'd have over 20mil. |

no go on Klefbom or Nurse - Reveen.
Fair to suggest this is based on not wanting to trade known products for unknowns? |

That’s how I feel about it at any rate.
If we were to move the pick AND Klefbom, then I’d want more than just a pick coming back. |

Starting to see more talk about trading up to grab Byram with a number of people citing similar stances to me regarding his potential. If it was an option, what would you be comfortable trading to get him? Would you move one of Nurse or Klefbom along with a pick? Would anyone consider one of them along with the #8 for say #4 and #16? How about for #2 and #20? - MaximumBone
Klefbom/Lucic/#8 for #4? Colorado has the cap space to make it work.
That frees up a lot of cap space for us to play with. |

In fairness, my suggestions did say two picks each (2 & 20 or 4 & 16), but that's fair if your point stands. What kind of piece would you prefer in that sort of deal? Keeping in mind that the additional pick could be used either as a chip for a top-6 forward or to draft someone you believe will be a top-6 forward (Tomasino). |

What if Lucic was involved?
So addition by subtraction? |

The more I look in to it the more I kind of realize that this team will more than likely go with our current D guys for one more season and then try and insert some new blood after that. Both Sekera and Russell will be easier to move after another season on their contracts gets used or also will be easier to buyout. Klefbom, Nurse and Larsson are all on value deals as long as they can stay healthy and play at the level we have come to expect. Jones is probably the only one that gets an extended look for this upcoming season unless Bouchard blows the doors off in preseason.

I don't imagine they're keen on adding a cap anchor as they're just coming into their competitive window. They have to sign half of their top-9 forwards and Zadorov this offseason so adding 10mil isn't likely to jive with their goal. I think you keep the deals separate and add the mid-1st to open up doors in moving a pick either to rid us of Lucic (dual-retained cap) or to add a top-6 forward of our own. |

I’ve no interest in an additional pick, but I might be persuaded if a promising (read NHL ready) winger prospect was included. |

Fair enough. I don't know that those teams have any of those options, unfortunately.
I just envision adding Byram at 4 and Tomasino at 16 to our prospect pool (two of my top-10), using our 2nd (and maybe a prospect) as the enticement to get Lucic (w/1.5 retained) to Ottawa who then move him (2.25 retained) to a willing third party and then trying to find a suitor for Russell at whatever retained cost is required.
If we can pull off a draft day trade for any of my aforementioned top-6 targets using the 2020 1st (as we had two this year, we can sacrifice the one next year), we'll be set to spend the rest of the offseason finding bargains and lower cost additions. |

Can’t trade Nurse....his play away from the puck can use some work but you can’t ignore his career high and points and plus how young he is....while it’s not set in stone the best could certainly be ahead for him.....let’s not Petry this situation

I agree on Nurse. Given his consistent upward trajectory, I have no reason to believe that won't continue. By your lack of mentioning him, I trust that means you don't feel the same about Klefbom? |

The heart says keep Klefbom forever and ignore everything else (I really am a huge Klefbom fan) but the brain points to constant injuries and how it hurts the team because no one else can fill that void.....I think he is great when healthy....but then again “when healthy”

Depends on if Byram falls past #4.
I’d be cool with the following returns for #8 and Klefbom (but not Nurse):
#3 and Evan Barratt
#4 and Nick Henry
#5 and Carl Grundström
Barratt and Henry might not be NHL ready, but they have enough upside to possibly sway me.

Nothing against Nuge as I’m a fan but just imagine Connor and Leon on their own lines with wingers who can score |

I guess my question becomes, you'd rather have them than Tomasino (as an example)? Henry especially stands out like a sore thumb to me. |
