None of those teams are in on Malkin. This is a steaming pile of untruths.

I hope the Canucks plan is to draft the next Malkin.

Not trying to be a Richard, but that’s not even in the realm of reality.

Koptiar, 1st + is where you start.

The truth is nobody wins a Malkin trade at this point.

- Rinosaur

If the core of the trade is Kopitar for Malkin, then Pittsburgh adds, not LA.

It's probably closer to true than Kopitar , 1st plus.

I think LA would add a little to the deal, but nowhere near as much as you suggest.

Malkin is 33 this summer.

LOL only reason Malkin is tied with the Kings is because they take on aging vets. Not that Malkin still doesn't rock, but the Kings are the oldest team in the league. They need to get younger, faster and more skilled. Malkin will be wasting the rest of his years on a mediocre to bad team until the Kings can rebuild. Last I checked, a rebuild doesn't have you go after people like Malkin.

Not only that, they still need cap space. Yes they have a little now, but would need to dump like Quick and Carter (which I hope they do anyways be it with any team that wants them).

Unless Pittsburgh is interested in taking a combination of Phaneuf, Carter, Martinez, Kovalchuk, and draft picks no higher than the 3rd round, then the Kings aren't interested.
- tkecanuck341

Seriously, why on earth would LA want Malkin?

Again, nobody is winning a Malkin deal. The team receiving Malkin has the age/salary issue and the Pens will want way more than what can give even if they attempted to give full value due to cap issues.

Not with your flawed logic, but LA is closer to a rebuild than being a contender, so I don’t believe they should be in on any major players.

VAN and MTL make way more sense, but I don’t think MTL has anything real to offer and VAN definitely won’t give the Pens what they would actually want.

Well there's a difference between not having it and not being willing to give it up now, isn't there??

Well you don’t have to be a Richard about it. I can amend my statement.

I just think VAN has more pieces to offer that they can afford to part with, but that doesn’t mean I think they would.
