Flyers are light on young d prospects for the phantoms next year. I’d say keep amac and schlemko on the farm

The only young forward I can see sticking out of camp is Farabee. He can play down in the lineup.

Next year the phantoms should get a healthy dose of fresh d prospects right? (Zamula, hogberg, Wylie?)

Nice write up, just good to see the depth. Unless they use the first round pick in a trade I think they should see about moving up in the draft, if they feel that pick has a high ceiling, beyond what is available at 11. They have depth but could use more high end.

Honestly I haven’t looked at the draft. Bill, what would be a move up scenario you think the flyers might look at, that would be possible?

Plus I think they have 2 3rd rounders, could they pair up their last 3rd and their second to move up in the 2nd, is there’s someone early second they would target?

Sorry need Flyer hockey stuff, early offseason sucks

It will be interesting to do a Flyers and Phantoms projected lineups come July 5th or 6th. Well I agree the changes were needed in the front office and to the coaching staff, to me there still needs to be some substantive change to personnel on the ice. This team is not good enough and that needs to be addressed. These changes could really change the fortunes of some of these kids coming in.

Bill, nice summary of roster situation for Flyers and Phantoms. Capfriendly.com lists Goulbourne and Bardreau as Group 6 UFAs and Schlmko as "Buried" with a salary of $1.025,000. https://www.capfriendly.com/teams/flyers

I don't think they will trade up. Could be wrong but I think they will stand pat at 11.

Want to see what direction the GM and coaches want to take this team.
Just create an identity even if its one i dont like.

Will they give this coaching staff the same teams more or less before making any major moves? Or does the GM bring in hi own players right away?

Bardreau, Goulbourne, and Vecchione are all G6 UFAs.

https://www.capfriendly.com/teams/flyers

What is a Group VI UFA?
A player whose contract is expiring and meets all of the following conditions shall become an unrestricted free agent (UFA):

The player is 25 years or older (as of June 30th of the calendar year the contract is expiring).

The player has completed 3 or more professional seasons - qualified by 11 or more professional games (for an 18/19 year old player), or 1 or more professional games (for a player aged 20 or older). This can include NHL, minor league, and European professional league seasons played while under an SPC.

The player has played less than 80 NHL games, or 28 NHL games of 30 minutes or greater for a goaltender.

If they signed him to an ELC, Wylie would be eligible to play for the Phantoms in 19-20 since he's a November birthday. But as a 5th round pick it would make sense for him to go back for his fourth year of Junior.

Never understood the obsession every year with moving the pick up/down/around.

Flyers are the poster children for hitting on picks beyond the top-10. It's nearly money in the bank with this club.

You are correct. I went by the Cap Central info that Mike assembles but you are right. Fixed it in the blog.

I fixed the Group 6s. Schlemko was partially buried salary this past season but the full cap hit is on the books for the Flyers until such a time in camp that he'd be waived and is either claimed (100 percent cap relief) or assigned to the Phantoms (partial cap relief).

I guess it will depend on how they value the top end picks when comparing....and what the costs are or returns are when debating a move from 11. From all the forecasts the top 15 are rated pretty good....this isn't Ron hextall though...still don't have a feel for Fletcher.

I'm happy with our return, at the moment, but always liked him as a player and am glad to see him play well.

I only watched the 3rd and fell asleep during the first overtime, but they were flat out dominating. The stars barely had any time in the O-zone. I think they said the shots were like 20-2 since the start of the 2nd period at that point. Zuccarello should have scored on that wraparound though haha.

What scares me are the daily conversations on this board. We currently have a young core on defense of Provorov, Gostisbehere, Sanheim, Gudas, Hagg, Myers, Morin and MacDonald. All under contract. However, we’re still talking about bringing in a veteran defenseman.

On top of this, some fans aren’t willing to wait for Nolan Patrick to break out as he enters his third pro season, so their answer is to blow all kinds of money on a second line center.

Last, we haven’t had a fourth line in like five years. Yes, Bellemare looks great in Vegas. Bellemare did not look great here attached to the hip with Chris Vandevelde at even strength and a poor penalty kill.

Bringing in depth and specialist should be an absolute priority. It was a priority to re-sign a fourth line winger in Michael Raffl, filling in these bottom six gaps should also be a priority.

I’m seriously worried that Fletcher takes notes from hockeybuzz.com

I don't see any reason to move up. There is a top 2 and then everyone else is pretty close depending on what a team needs.

Podkolzin is a wild card as he could go 3 or even drop out of the top 10 i believe.

At 11 I would be happy with any of Krebs, Turcotte, Byram, Soderstrom, Caufield, Boldy or Zegras.
